At just 10 years old, Davi Malizia has already built up an impressive resume in the cinema. His first feature film, Jardim dos Girassóis, hits theaters on November 28, where he plays Luca, the son of Rodrigo Lombardi and Fernanda Vasconcellos’ characters, in a dramatic plot directed by Marcelo Antunez . Based on the spiritualist novel by Lygia Barbiere do Amaral, the film explores themes of spirituality and family overcoming.

Since then, Davi has played the child Ney Matogrosso in the feature film Homem com H and starred in Cartas para Deus, by Fernando Ceylão, playing Theo, a boy with cancer, a role that required him to shave his head. In addition to cinema, the young actor shines on stage in productions such as Escolinhazinha do Professor Raimundo and Megera Domada.

Off camera, Davi maintains a YouTube channel where he teaches LIBRAS to children, and has been a performer on Podcenaskids . With talent and charisma, he has established himself as a promising figure in Brazilian entertainment.

At just 10 years old, you already have an impressive career in cinema and theater. How did you discover your passion for acting and what was your first experience in the artistic world?

It all started when I was 5 years old and my grandfather took me to an agency. That’s where I fell in love with this art. My first play was playing “Maui” in Moana . When I went on stage and saw all those people looking at me, I felt butterflies in my stomach and, at the same time, an enormous happiness. I was very young, but I knew I wouldn’t stop.

In Jardim dos Girassóis, you play Lucas, a character full of emotional challenges. What was it like preparing for such an intense role and dealing with the most emotional aspects of the story?

I had a director who helped me a lot to understand the character and the plot. I also had time to create a bond with my “parents”. Both Fernanda and Rodrigo gave me the scripts with great confidence. It was my first feature film and an experience that I cherish very much.

Playing Ney Matogrosso as a child must have been a unique experience. How did you connect with his story and what struck you most during the recordings?

It was undoubtedly a unique experience. What struck me most about Ney’s story was his perseverance in achieving his dreams, a virtue that made me connect with him. It’s hard to choose a specific moment because I consider all the phases of the film to be remarkable, but Ney’s perspective, the way he observed things, has stayed with me. I’m sure the film will be a success and that Ney will be very proud and happy with the result.

In the film Letters to God, you play Theo, a boy with cancer, and you even shaved your head for the role. What was this transformation like and what did you learn from playing a child facing such a delicate situation?

Theo was a gift from God. This transformation was an extraordinary moment in my life. From the characterization, I completely connected with the character. Theo is a child with great faith and hope, who cares about seeing his mother smile and, even with all the difficulties he faces, he never loses his optimism and contagious joy.

With so many important projects, how do you manage to balance studies, career and still find time to play and have fun?

Each thing has its time. I can organize myself to reconcile everything I like to do. The tip is to have focus and discipline.

You have a YouTube channel where you teach LIBRAS to children. What inspired you to share sign language and how can it help other children?

My inspiration was the desire to communicate with my friend Juliane, who is deaf and my neighbor. I realized that LIBRAS is a way to include the deaf community in everything.

You’ve been part of plays like Escolinhazinha do Professor Raimundo and Megera Domada. How do theater and musicals help you grow as an actor and what do you like most about doing on stage?

I was directed by Cininha de Paula and Charles Davis, and that definitely helped me grow as an actor. They have a lot of experience and know how to teach. I learned a lot in these two years at CN Artes, especially how to be directable, help my friends on and off stage, study, be flexible and, most importantly, get out of my comfort zone. This motivated me to develop new skills, such as starting singing lessons.

In your free time, you enjoy playing with Marvel figures and watching TV. How do these activities help you relax after working on such intense projects?

These moments help me relax, ease the routine and distract myself.
