THIH releases “World of Illusions” and deepens its identity in alternative rock

On March 13th, the artist THIH released the single “Mundo de Ilusões” (World of Illusions), a track that marked a new moment in his career by exploring, with intensity and sincerity, themes such as identity crisis, external pressures, and self-knowledge. With a sound influenced by 2000s indie rock, the song presented a melancholic and visceral aesthetic, aligned with a confessional composition that translates personal experiences into a musical outpouring. The release reinforced the singer’s artistic maturity and consolidated his partnership with Marã Música, expanding his connection with the public through intimate and universal narratives.

The single “Mundo de Ilusões” (World of Illusions) stems from a fairly universal internal conflict: the feeling of no longer recognizing oneself. At what point in your life did you realize you needed to transform this feeling into music?

Like most of my compositions, I start by writing about what I’m feeling, humming along to the verses as I write them, and from there the song takes shape; it’s really something very natural.

The song has an aesthetic very much linked to 2000s indie rock, with a nostalgic and intense atmosphere. Which artists or albums from that era helped shape the sound you were aiming for in this track?

I am completely passionate about 2000s Indie Rock, and for the creation of this track I was greatly influenced by two albums in particular: TURN ON THE BRIGHT LIGHTS, Interpol’s first album released in 2002, and Editors’ first album, THE BACK ROOM, from 2005.

You often say that composing is a form of catharsis. When a personal experience becomes music, what changes within you after the song is finished?

For me, it’s a feeling of freedom, being able to transform what I’m feeling into music; I feel much lighter after finishing the composition.

Drummer Pedro Furtado, from the band Zimbra, is participating in the recording again. How has this partnership contributed to building the sonic identity of your work?

Besides him being an incredible musician, we have a lot of musical tastes in common, which makes developing our partnership even easier.

Many people experience moments when they wonder if they are still on the right path. What do you hope someone will feel or reflect upon when listening to “World of Illusions”?

Life is made of new beginnings; if a person isn’t feeling good about themselves, what they’re doing, or where they are, if it doesn’t fit with who they are at the moment, the ideal thing to do is to start over, to seek a path where everything is renewed and truly fits into their life.

You began your musical journey heavily influenced by your father and early exposure to rock music. What memories from that beginning still resonate in your creative process today?

Many things have changed: my way of thinking, composing, I’ve learned to appreciate other musical styles, but one thing that has never changed is my joy in being able to go on stage. I always have the feeling that I’m doing it for the first time; it’s incredible.

After experiences in bands and performances in bars in the Baixada Santista region, you decided to pursue a solo career. How has artistic autonomy changed the way you create and position yourself as a musician?

Since everything I do these days is for myself, I’m not so restricted when it comes to composing lyrics and melodies; I have a very clear idea of what I’m looking for in my solo work.

After the EP “outros tempos”, the single “Amaro” and now “Mundo de Ilusões”, it seems that your work is entering a more mature and intense phase. What new musical paths do you envision exploring in your upcoming releases?

The album I’ll be releasing this year will be in the 2000s Indie Rock style, but I’ve already been experimenting with other melodic elements for the future, and I’ll be releasing something soon.
