How was the transition from being a backing vocalist to becoming a solo singer and standing out in the sertanejo scene in Rio?

Everything was happening at the same time, right? At the same time that I was singing in a dance band, proposals came to be a backing vocalist… One knew the other and they recommended me. I went back invoked from the TV Xuxa program and in some frames of the Caldeirão do Huck program. I even made a really cool painting that was the Cup Song with Mariana Rios in Caldeirão eh The Voice Brasil and also the opportunity to be Beck I invoke is for great artists, right? A Pepeu Gomes Alcione at the same time as my career as a sertanejo singer, I was already developing in parallel, right? So it all sort of happened at the same time so this transition from being Beck Mora is actually an on and off switch, right? At one point you’re a supporting actor, you’re there as a backing vocalist doing your vocal role.

What are your main musical inspirations and how do they influence your career and musical style?

Well, my biggest musical inspiration. It was certainly my grandmother Catarina Di Biasi in the interior of Minas Gerais there in Miraí, my art teacher in the city and she played violin and classical piano, I stayed there listening to her but from an early age, you know, my father collected vinyl so my father always liked it a lot of music, I listened to a lot of sertanejo music from the 90s. I remember that I used to sit with him on the couch watching Sabadão Sertanejo so that country music from the 90s is a lot then, I liked it a lot. I’ve always really liked romantic singers, I’ve always liked the way they communicated. Is Fábio Júnior certainly a number one?

I’ve always really liked Camisa Nova, I’ve always liked Roger Augusto a lot… all of them romantic, right? And country singers too, right? Logically, everyone there from the 90s, Zezé Di Camargo and Luciano, Leandro and Leonardo, Gian and Giovani, João Paulo and Daniel, in short, all those guys there.

How was the experience of substituting for Serginho Herval in Camisa Nova and how did that impact your trajectory as a singer?

That was the craziest thing that happened in my life, right? God’s greatest gift I received It was a delicate moment for Serginho, for ‘Roupa’, but at the same time it became a great gift for all of us. It was an incredible three months and I received a lot of affection from all the fans at all the shows I went to, we closed in several cities in Brazil. So it was a very intense experience, it was a unique experience, right? It’s customary to say that I made life to zero, right? You get a call one day at home inviting you to be the lead singer of the outfit. New for a while, huh? You can imagine what I went through, what I felt and I had three days to prepare, three very intense days.

And let’s go! I went to the fight! I received the invitation on a Monday, on Thursday it was the first show in São Paulo and from there it was São Paulo, Curitiba, then Minas Gerais and it was sensational. Anyway. I still miss the fans a lot, I miss the whole technical team, I still miss them, but the bond of being together is no longer the same, right? Every weekend to play a show, but we keep in good contact.

How has the production process of your authorial songs been? Can you tell us a little more about “The World Gives Its Turns”?

Feghali produced a song composed by me and Marcos, by the duo Marcos and Belutti called “o amor se do arriving”. He produced a clip, we released it during the pandemic. And there was a very good commotion from the clothes Nova fans who were very firm there at that was a very heated moment, right? It is very close to my participation with clothes and from there. I continued producing music making new content, came the project “Minha roça, Meu Canto” it was a project that I did a lot with my soul rescuing a little of my essence from the back of the interior of Minas, from Miraí.

And now the song ‘The world goes around’, right? Another composition of mine, it’s the song we’re working on right now and I like this song a lot, I have a lot of affection for it and it’s very well accepted, so wherever I go, where I play, people like this song a lot, I see that she has a lot of potential. So we’re going steady.

You mentioned that the sertanejo represents family and history for you. How are these elements reflected in your compositions and performances?

Yeah… a lot of people ask me: “But Bruno, you sing everything, why did you choose to sing sertanejo and in Rio de Janeiro, what challenge is that?” – Well, the sertanejo for me is a rescue. Rescuing my childhood and my family rescuing life, right? It’s where I feel welcomed. I was born here in Rio de Janeiro, but I was raised by miners, my parents are miners, my cousins, my uncles, my grandparents. So, it’s a lot like opening the window and looking at the cattle in the pasture, it’s the feeling I have when I sing sertanejo. This is the reason for choosing this segment and I feel very good about it.

In addition to music, you also get involved in other artistic areas such as dubbing and acting. How do these experiences complement your music career?

Following in the footsteps of Fábio Júnior, right? Like idol, like fan. I do some things, little jobs that I’m very proud of when I was still young in this area, but I really like to do it, right? As a voice actor I do a lot of things singing, right? “Lava” for example from Disney Pixar, “Pé Pequeno” I did his singing voice for the character, “Mickey em Mix de Aventuras” I sing the opening, the Pokémon opening (the 2019 version) I also sing corner. So, these are jobs that make me very proud, as an actor in some children’s productions such as “Baby Buzz”, “Cat Family” and also a participation in the series: “The Witcher”. So among other works, right? I also make audio books, as an actor I also made audio series. I recently made the Sandman audio series. So these are really cool jobs. Everything to do with the voice, but in different areas and I’m very happy, right? When these works come because more and more experiences are increasing making me a more complete artist.

What is it like reconciling your artistic career with your personal and family life? How does your relationship and your son influence your music?

Yes, I think everything is an organization for you to know, dealing with time. I have a beautiful girlfriend who supports me a lot and is always by my side. And it gives me a lot of strength to carry on, that hug, that warmth, right in the difficult moments and the celebration in the happy moments and my son is a gift from God, right? He is an extremely affectionate, handsome and talented boy. He is extremely musical and loves Guns n’ Roses, he’s a rocker who sings Guns n’ Roses songs whole. I already had him record in the studio with me. I already recorded him singing Sweet Child o’ mine all over Dad was drooling. But his business is playing the drums. He wants to play the drums and I’m already sending him to classes and soon. I think he’s going to be a great drummer.

You have a dedicated fan club called “Amor Se Faz”. How is the interaction with your fans and what is their importance in your career?

Yes, I have my brunettes here, right in Rio de Janeiro. And the fan club “Amor Se Faz” is a more national fan club. His headquarters are in São Paulo, right? It was created there in São Paulo by Sara and it came from the clothes Nova fans, too. It was a gift that I got from Camisa Nova, after my time there. And there are people from all over Brazil in this fan club, who follow, who follow my work, who repost my publications. So, I always thank and treat everyone with great affection and it’s an honor to have these people dedicate themselves, right? Dedicating their time to give me that strength, to add together, to dream together with me.

How did your experience dubbing characters and performing songs on productions like Disney’s “Lava” and the opening of “Pokémon” contribute to your artistic development and influence your musical approach as a singer?

I ended up anticipating, right? Talking a little bit about that already, but the truth is, I think it was the opposite path, the path I took as a singer during so many years of my career that allowed me to have the necessary experience to give voice to these characters.

So I think the path was the other way around, you know? Of course, we always extract something from these works, but I think it was a musical baggage, which enabled me to be able to handle this responsibility, which is recording a Disney character, for example, which has a very high quality requirement.

What are your plans for the future? Are there musical collaborations or special projects you’d like to undertake?

Plans for the future are in full swing! The show schedule is full. Thank God! We are now starting an incredible project at Dumond Art Bar. Every Thursday in Baixo Gávea, I even invite you Luca, go enjoy a sertanejo with us! And we’re working on the song ‘The World Gives Your Rounds’, we’re going to campaign for TV programs, radios here in Rio and in the interior of the State of Rio; Every month the idea is to release a new song, launch new content on streaming to generate this release routine, for the people there to follow and always have something new. So that’s basically it: keep working.
