The film “Paixões Recorrentes”, with a screenplay and direction by renowned filmmaker Ana Carolina, hits theaters in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo through O2 Play on August 18th. The work had its international premiere at the 51st Rotterdam Film Festival, in the Netherlands. Distributed by O2 Play and produced by Crystal Cinematográfica, “Paixões Recorrentes” is the new film by the director responsible for fundamental works of Brazilian cinema: “Getúlio Vargas”, “Mar de Rosas”, “Das Tripas Coração”, “Sonho de Valsa ”, “Amélia, Gregório de Mattos” and “The First Mass or Sad Mistakes, Mistakes and Urucum”. The French magazine Cahiers du Cinéma considers Ana Carolina, the only Brazilian, one of the most influential filmmakers of the century.

“No! That’s not possible! No reliable information reaches this deserted beach off the coast of Brazil. The turmoil and social crises seemed like they would never come this far. ‘In these lands we will always have some success!’ Despite the exuberant nature, the characters are forced to face reality! Hostages of their perverse passions, they deliberate as if they had power over their countries, their lives and defend their convictions to the death!”, comments Ana Carolina.

In the cast of “Paixões Recorrentes” are: Thérèse Cremieux, Luciano Cáceres, Pedro Barreiro, Silvana Ivaldi, Danilo Grangheia, Iran Gomes and Luiz Octavio Moraes.
