Giullia Buscacio, born in Funchal, capital of Madeira Island, and living in South Korea for four years, has a fascinating trajectory that marked her journey into acting. Born in the city of Funchal, capital of Madeira Island, you ended up living in different regions of the world, including 10 years in South Korea. What was the experience of having absorbed so many different cultures in your life and how this knowledge can reflect on your art?
This life of mine was all due to my father’s profession as a football player who made us accompany him on his travels, nowadays I am sure that I am in the profession of actress precisely because I have lived adapting in each country, having to be accepted , feeling part of a culture, learning different languages and customs helped me nowadays in building characters. I owe a lot to that luggage.
In 2016, a new success emerged in Brazilian dramaturgy – “Velho Chico”, and along with it brought a new experience, which was the character Olívia. What was the experience of playing this character that was your first in the 9pm soap opera on Rede Globo?
“Velho Chico” was a very important project in my career. Olívia was my first role in a nine o’clock soap opera on Rede Globo, to this day I receive messages from people who started following my career more after this role. In addition to being a project that I had the honor of working with so many incredible people.
When you played the character Isabela in the remake of “Éramos Seis” in 2019, you even mentioned that you had a lot of resemblance to your character. In an article published by “Gshow”, she stated that she identifies with his determination and sensitivity. What marks did this character leave on your career?
I usually say that all characters leave marks on our lives. Isabel was another great gift in my life. She and I are very similar when it comes to going after what we want.
Still in 2019, a soap opera came out that despite her character making a very brief appearance at some points, she ended up having a huge impact – Bruna Schuler from the soap opera “Travessia”. In the plot, you played a digital influencer and actress who ended up having her image used as bait so that a pedophile could communicate with his victims on the internet. How important is it to highlight these issues on television and what was the experience of working with Claudio Tovar like?
When I received the invitation to participate in ‘Travessia’ I was very happy, but I had no idea that I would play such an important role. I was very honored to have contributed to conveying such an important message. At the time, I received many messages from parents saying that they were using the soap opera to explain the danger that social networks/internet can hide. It was very important work. Ah, Cláudio Tovar is a genius, I was very happy to work with him and I hope we can repeat this partnership.
