What has your journey been like from fashion shows to acting on television and in film? What motivated you to make this transition?
I don’t think it was a transition for sure, because I’ve always taken one thing next to the other. I started with fashion, but since I was a little girl I always liked cameras, posing, I was photogenic… I remember picking up my cell phone and filming myself talking to myself (laughs). It was also for this reason that my mother took me to fashion shows. I loved! As I grew up, I also started doing campaigns, catalogs and advertisements for various brands, I participated in São Paulo Fashion Week, until the test to do a soap opera came up and I fell in love. After that, I did other works in dramaturgy and understood my path. Nowadays, I have fashion as an ally of acting. I’m an actress and acting is what I love to do, but fashion is very much in my life too.
You had your first TV role at age 9, in “As Aventuras de Poliana”. How was that experience and how did you feel playing Lorena?
It was pretty incredible. In addition to being my first TV job, it was an incredible and huge project. I always loved watching SBT soap operas and I was already in love with this world of art, TV, cinema. When I auditioned for the soap opera and passed, I was nine years old and had no idea how big it all was, how my life was about to change. It was very good, because, as I started working very early, I also started to develop responsibilities very early. Currently, I see myself as a very responsible person, as someone who fulfills his duties. I’m sure I only learned this because I started working very early. Acting in “As Aventuras de Poliana” was a very incredible experience, my first job as an actress meant a lot to me.
In addition to TV, you’ve also acted in film. Tell us about your experience playing the title character in “Exterminators from Beyond Against Blonde from the Bathroom”.
The story of how I got called into this movie is pretty funny. I was nine years old and starting to work as Lorena, in “As Aventuras de Poliana”. At the time, the telenovela was not yet being publicized, so nobody knew who I was. One day, I was on SBT for a preparatory workshop and I stopped for lunch. To my surprise, while I was waiting for my food in the food court, I realized that Danilo Gentilli was there looking at me… until he called me to talk to him and invited me to be the Blonde from the Bathroom in his film. At first I thought it was a prank (laughs). It was a really cool, amazing experience. It’s a horror movie and I loved the recording process, from the shooting to the acting technique. A mega experience!
In 2023, you starred in the film “Princesa Adormecida”, based on the work of Paula Pimenta. How was living the protagonist of this film? Were there any specific challenges in this role?
It was one of the most incredible opportunities I’ve ever had in my life. This character was a gift from God! In the same second I read the script I was already in love with her, it was the perfect match. I believe that my main challenge was to star in a film inspired by a book, because I know that Paula Pimenta is a wonderful writer, with a very loyal group of fans. And when people read a book that is going to be adapted into a movie, they expect the works to be as similar as possible. Conveying the personality of Rosa that is in the book and putting my touch on the big screen, in addition to contemplating this whole story in a short time was challenging, but very rewarding.
You also debuted in theater in “O Finado Beta e os Irmãos Rubel”. How was the transition to acting on stage? Are there any differences between acting in theater and acting in television/film that you would highlight?
The first challenge of making this piece is the fact that it took place in the midst of the pandemic. Lucas Papp, a dear friend and also an actor, invited me to participate and the presentations took place only digitally, on Zoom. All the actors would meet in a studio and we would broadcast the show to the public online. It was my first time on stage and the experience was very different because of the needs of that moment. Despite that, I thought it was really cool, I feel that in the theater everything is much more expressive, the people in the audience need to hear you, see you… it’s very different from TV. Even online, we managed to convey emotion in a way that I wasn’t used to, but it was really cool and intense.
You are a digital influencer with a large social media following. How do you balance your acting career with your online presence? What do you like to share with your followers?
I think the fact that I’m an actress even helps me in this career on social media. This is part of my content. Nowadays, what I share is a lot about lifestyle and fashion, I show a lot about my life, what I do on a daily basis, study, work, backstage, my family, friends. I also give fashion tips, inspirations, trends… I feel that acting leads me to produce and follow this content more lightly. I also really like seeing it from others and I hope people like seeing it from me. About balance, I feel it’s good to do a social media detox. There are days when I don’t post anything, I prefer to be more off and enjoy my family, nature and what surrounds me.
Which actresses and actors do you admire that have inspired your career? Do you have any role of your idols that you dream of playing?
There are many older actors that I admire for the iconic roles they played, but I really look for inspiration in younger personalities, who are closer to my universe and current trends, which, for me, makes more sense to inspire me. Among the Brazilians, Bruna Marquezine, an incredible actress who reached the long-awaited international career, in addition to being beautiful and super connected to the world of fashion. We are ambassadors for the same NGO, IKMR, that takes care of refugees and that makes me admire her as a person too. Another personality that inspires me is Rodrigo Santoro, one of the best actors we have in Brazil and who also conquered his international career. Now, among the actors outside the country, there’s Tom Holland, who made Spider-Man and many other films, a young guy full of talent and, mainly, Millie Bobbie Brown, I’ve always been in love with her! As for the roles I still want to play… a superhero is still my big dream!
In addition to your artistic activities, you are also an ambassador for the NGO IKMR Brasil. Can you tell us a little more about this initiative and why it is important for you to get involved in social causes?
I think my profession has a really nice return in terms of followers, fame… and one of the positive sides of that is the power of influence. And I’m not just talking about influence in the sense of changing someone’s thinking, but I realize that there are many fans who are happier just seeing me. That’s my purpose, that’s why God gave me the opportunity to work with what I work for. It’s exciting to see children or even adults being happy and excited to see you. Knowing that I can change a small part of the world, participating in social causes and making a child happier, making a donation or even influencing people to participate in noble causes, is an unparalleled opportunity. It’s good for others and it’s good for me.
You mentioned that you are studying English and theater, and that you have dreams of an international career. What are your aspirations for the future in this regard?
My biggest dream, in addition to studying film abroad, is to pursue an international career. Since I was a little girl, I’ve studied English and, nowadays, I manage completely well. I had never taken theater classes, but after the soap opera ended I decided to dedicate myself to it, because I think it’s important to always be up-to-date and studying.
How do you deal with the pressure and expectations that can come with being a young actress? What are your main goals and wishes for your career in the coming years?
I think that since I started very young and grew up in this environment, I think I’m a little used to all of this, but it’s still magical for me. Despite my young age, every now and then I have the feeling that I’m wasting time and I charge myself a lot. I don’t like to see myself acting because I tend to be very critical and I think this is something that tends to help me achieve a better result, but it’s not always so healthy, so it’s something I’m trying to curb a little. But my wishes for my future are many! I want to make more films, keep studying, take as many courses as I can and, once again, achieve my international career, which is something I really dream about.
