LGBT+ inclusion is a social movement and an ongoing fight for rights, social acceptance and respect for people who are part of the community. Given this, two founding partners jointly created the LGBT+ Com Local Clinic, a safe and welcoming space to serve all people, regardless of their sexual orientation. The clinic was founded in 2023 with the aim of giving space to people who are often unable to express themselves for fear of reprisals and prejudice.
The project arose from the movement of the community itself, which, after the pandemic, showed greater interest in psychotherapy. For the founders, the connection between people in the community is different and this was also one of the reasons that encouraged them to found the clinic. “It’s very natural for a woman to connect better with another woman or for a straight man to connect better with another straight man. Psychotherapy also needs this synergy”, says one of the partners at LGBT+ Com Local, Paulo Ferreira. The professionals who work at the clinic are also part of the LGBT+ community and therefore understand the struggles, prejudices and dilemmas faced by patients.
Although assistance from an LGBT+ professional can be beneficial, it is important to remember that the choice of professional is personal and varies according to individual needs. The LGBT+ Com Local Clinic stands out for its inclusive approach, serving not only the LGBT+ community, but also all people who seek support and guidance from a professional.
About the clinic
Currently, the clinic has 70 active patients and offers various types of care and therapeutic approaches, which depend on the patient’s needs and the professional’s guidance. These include individual therapy, group therapy and couples therapy.
The LGBT+ Com Local Clinic has a team of trained professionals and is available 24 hours a day to assist patients directly, whenever necessary. Services are 100% online, in order to make psychotherapy accessible to everyone. Regardless of the patient’s location, it is possible to access the clinic’s services anywhere with just an internet connection.
