Currently working in Belo Horizonte in his own clinic alongside his wife, Dr. Credidio says that his patients lined up outside his office in São Paulo

Taking care of beauty from the inside out, in addition to preventing the health and well-being of his patients, is a priority in the career of plastic surgeon Rodrigo Credidio.

Son of a doctor and dentist, he was inspired by his father since his childhood. Born in Campinas, São Paulo, he dreamed of following his family’s example in the profession. “Having a vascular surgeon father, I decided I also wanted to be a surgeon,” he reveals.

At the time he decided to follow this path, he began following surgeries performed by his father, but he confesses to not having been interested in vascular surgery. “I was also in contact with orthopedics, but nothing really sparked my interest, until I met a plastic surgeon and fell in love with that work”, recalls Credidio. After doing an internship in the area, he decided: “It was what I wanted for my life!”

Having a passion for the arts in general, involved with gastronomy, music and plastic arts in his hobby moments, in addition to having practiced some martial arts in his childhood and adolescence, Rodrigo Credidio found in plastic surgery an extension of something he already had. he liked, this time focusing on his professional side.

He graduated from the Faculty of Health and Human Ecology (FASEH), located in Minas Gerais, where he met his then wife, Nathalia, but he had no plans to remain in the city in the future. “I never considered the possibility of living in Belo Horizonte, as the chances of growth in São Paulo were infinitely greater.”

Due to this observation, upon graduating, at the age of 24, he entered General Surgery at the Irmandade de Misericórdia in Campinas, the city where his parents lived.

“After completing my General Surgery residency in Campinas, I started taking exams, until I passed the Mater Dei Health Network in Belo Horizonte, having to return to Minas”, says the doctor. Rodrigo already had 5 years of experience with plastic surgery due to previous paid internships he had completed, both at his college and at his father’s work.

“This was surprising for my master, Doctor Sebastião Nelson, who, realizing my experience, allowed me to have my own patients under his supervision, after becoming R2”, comments Credidio who, in his R3, was already having a flow of patients much higher than expected at this stage of the career. His experience in the area was his differentiating factor.

After earning his plastic surgery degree, he returned to São Paulo, with the intention of working and growing in the city of São Paulo. This time, taking Nathalia by his side (a graduate in Dermatology and Nutrology), Rodrigo Credidio opened a room inside his father’s clinic, in Campinas. He and his wife would start working together there, but Rodrigo says that his wife did not adapt well to life in São Paulo, in addition to having left behind many clients in Belo Horizonte, where she had already had a 5-year career.

“Even with this situation, I was providing services in Campinas, but operated in São Paulo. Due to hospital and anesthesiologist costs being more expensive in Campinas, my audience grew a lot in São Paulo. At some point, I was also providing services at the hospital where he operated, people lined up at the office door”, he recalls.

The great turning point in the doctor’s life was when his first daughter was born.

“It was a difficult phase to reconcile, I needed to find time to be the surgeon and the father. So, with the money I earned in São Paulo, we bought a house in Belo Horizonte, where our clinic currently operates. I set up our workplace, our rooms. I started to divide myself between São Paulo and Minas, until my patient flow became absurdly high in BH, to the point that I could no longer manage my time and that was no longer healthy”, he says.

It became unfeasible to continue with his services and surgeries in both cities, as he did before, in 2020, Rodrigo Credidio chose not to continue in São Paulo and only provide services in Belo Horizonte.

“This would not be the exact and most assertive choice that a professional in my position would make, as in São Paulo the prosperity in the profession is much greater and patients know exactly what they want, making consultations more agile, but, as a father, I and husband, I left reason aside at that moment, giving preference to my family and the quality of life we would have, because Minas is an excellent place to live and no money can pay the value of marriage and life next to our children.”

And keeps going:

“I believe it was a good decision, despite the market in Belo Horizonte being very different from São Paulo”, explains the doctor, who today works at Clínica Credidio, located in a privileged area of BH, with a complete and modern infrastructure, transmitting security and confidence for your patients.
