Showing music’s ability to heal, unite and transform lives, singer-songwriter GUISA, one of the new talents in national pop, is scheduled to release the single “Ela” next Friday, November 24th. Available on all digital platforms, the track will be released alongside a visualizer on the artist’s YouTube channel.

Born in the East Zone of São Paulo, the São Paulo native demonstrated an unusual fascination with music from an early age. At the age of 13, his musical journey began to shine in a memorable performance in which he sang and played several musical instruments, including bass, guitar and acoustic guitar. At the age of 15, already part of a church band, he started performing around the city and went on small tours as bassist in a pop band, even opening shows for bands like NX Zero and Strike. His songs also gained prominence on the most played lists on Fox Rock radio, in Sorocaba.

The single “Ela” marks the beginning of the singer’s new project, which is already in development. His next EP is scheduled for release in early 2024. GUISA is a promising name for great things next year, and we can expect beautiful compositions performed by him.

The journey of Guilherme Sadocco, also known as GUISA, is a story full of passion, resilience and determination in the world of music. Since he was a child, his family recognized his talent and presented him with a variety of musical instruments, from a tambourine and guitar to a microphone, drums and a small guitar.

In 2019, he obtained a scholarship in music production at EM&T, where he worked as a soundboard technician, assistant and producer. Simultaneously, he applied his knowledge at the Seu Batuta music school, acting as an assistant to Fernando Falvo, a renowned drummer who collaborated with artists such as Pitty, Ana Vilela and Roberta Campos. During this period, he began developing a musical project with a high school friend, focused on themes such as life, fears and alternative music.

However, life brought significant challenges to GUISA. In June 2021, his mother passed away at the age of 44, a victim of Covid-19. Shortly afterwards, he himself was hospitalized for the same illness, facing an intense battle for his life.

With projects interrupted and financial resources scarce, the artist found the strength to rise again. In March 2022, he signed with the prestigious publisher Som Livre as an author, marking a fresh start in his artistic career. And in October of the same year, he released his first single, “Minhas Things”.

GUISA, how do you describe the inspiration behind the song “Ela” and what do you hope to convey through this track?

Man, all women are an incredible source of inspiration for me, you know? I greatly admire their power to inspire and conquer, not only in the romantic vibe, but in all aspects of life. I was raised by three incredible women and today I have a partner who is simply awesome.

And look, every verse that my brothers wrote, I’m sure it’s like a tribute to someone special. I want to convey this cool vibe of love and tenderness, throwing myself into these angry charms that women bring with them. What I want is to experience this parade of being conquered and throwing yourself into these charms, bro, it’s just joy!

What were your musical experiences from your early years and how did those experiences shape your path in music?

My experiences in the world of music were pretty crazy, starting around the age of 14/15 in a church band. We kids already had something to talk about, which led us to visit several churches in São Paulo. Afterwards, I joined a pop rock band called Neo Element, we played at festivals and even opened for some important shows. And look, in the meantime, I also did some music production roles, set up an alternative music project, and even had my own small studio, but I had it lol. Oh, and I was also sponsored by the legend Fernando Falvo.

Since I was 15 years old, I have played as an instrumentalist, composer and producer. All these experiences shaped my art and my music, you know? Each phase, from the chords in church to the time I threw myself into professional composition, was a key part in building my crazy path in music.

GUISA, when talking about the single “Ela”, can you tell us about the process of composing the song and the special meaning behind it?

At that time, I was in the mood to compose in a simpler way, without too much complication, you know? I wanted direct lyrics that everyone could understand. That’s when the chorus came out, quickly, in about 5 minutes. I kept that for a month or so.

Then, he received an invitation to a composition camp at Produtora Klap, in Mooca, to compose for Pelé Mil Flows. I showed the chorus to the producer, and the man appreciated it right away, he even laughed. That same day we met in the studio as a group, I picked up the guitar and sang the chorus. People jumped out of their seats, everyone was excited, and we started scratching our pens in earnest on the music.

What I think is great about this song is that it’s like a summary of several love experiences, you know? It’s as if a bunch of guys in love put their ideas together and wrote lyrics for the people they love. A very sincere and engaging stop, you know?

In addition to the release of the single “Ela”, what can we expect from your next EP, scheduled to be released in 2024?

You can expect this EP to come with everything, full of hits that will make everyone jump! These are songs that are born to carry joy in your luggage, bro. This EP is coming to shine like the sun, you know? I’m putting huge faith in this project, believe me!

What is the story behind the stage name “GUISA” and what personal connection do you have to that name?

Dude, first, GUISA are the initials of my name, Guilherme Sadocco, right? But it was really crazy because I wasn’t even thinking about an artistic name, then out of nowhere, my godfather Fernando Falvo and I were there having breakfast, me talking about my projects and such.

Then, out of nowhere, he says on the table: “GUISA, GUISA, that’s your stage name!” We went there to look for the meaning, which was like “à moda” or “according to the way”. We really appreciated the name and its meaning, so I ended up adopting this stop.

How have you dealt with significant challenges, such as the loss of your mother to Covid-19 and your own battle with the disease?

At the beginning, I faced a very difficult period, it was quite challenging, mainly because her departure occurred so early, something that no one expected. At first, I wondered why, but as I sought solace in my faith and delved deeper into my religion, I found comfort, trying to convince myself that it was already predestined to happen. My battle was intense as it occurred just 10 days after the loss of my mother. It was a whirlwind of emotions to process, all happening at once, but, you know, life has those things. I believe I came out of this situation stronger, more mature. I grew considerably after going through this challenge.

GUISA, could you share a little about your journey from your signing with the publisher Som Livre in March 2022 to the release of your first single, “Minhas Things”, in October of the same year?

The journey was intense, lol. I was coming out of a turbulent and difficult year, when, right at the beginning, this encouragement came when I was chosen as a composer for Som Livre. I remember jumping for joy. In the meantime, I started to be more present on social media, sharing covers and poetry, and I started to gain more visibility. It was then that I picked up a track that was already ready on my computer, called “Minhas Negócios”. I sent the session to my sound master, André Kbelo, to mix and master, and the result was incredible. There, I was experiencing what it meant to be an artist, better understanding my place and identity in this scenario.

What made you choose music as a form of expression and how has it helped you get through difficult times in your life?

Man, to this day I don’t know exactly what drove me, I just know that I started taking guitar lessons when I was 13 and I was hooked. I can’t see myself doing anything else. If I depend on having a formal job, I’m screwed, I only know how to make music, it’s like it’s my blood, it flows naturally. Music is always present, helping me get through difficult times. When I look back, I realize that music was always there, being a constant support. I feel like I was born for this, I’m nobody without music.

Considering your musical skills and experience in music production, how do you see the balance between being an artist and working behind the scenes in music?

I don’t see any balance, because artist, musician, producer, roadie, it’s all a bit off the curve. If we were “normal”, we would be in suits in some office. I see it as another experience, you know? I’ve been behind the scenes, I know how things work, so I can speak with confidence about what goes on there and help those in need.

How do you plan to share your message and emotionally connect with your audience through your upcoming music?

Bro, it’s all about love and reciprocity, always doing my best to bring the best to the public. I sing with my heart, I compose because I had my moments of reflection, and I want to bring all of this to people, show the light and relaxed side of life, you know? I want to take these moments of good, relaxation. As Robbie Williams says, I was born to entertain.
