MC Guimê, your life path is marked by a journey of overcoming and success in the world of music. What was your transition like from working in a grocery store at the age of 13 to becoming one of the biggest names in ostentatious funk?

It was a journey full of struggles and glory, victories and defeats. Overcoming could be my last name. I am grateful for everything that God has provided me through funk and music since the time I worked at the grocery store, among other jobs. From a young age, I dreamed of one day being able to make a living from music. Funk and rap, I can say, saved my life. Therefore, facing countless challenges and with a lot of effort, thank God, I managed to get to where I am and become MC Guimê.

You are known as the biggest name in ostentatious funk. How would you describe this musical style and what differentiates it from traditional funk?

Funk ostentação is distinguished mainly by the theme of its lyrics and the aesthetics of its music videos. I am honored to be recognized as one of the main names in this style, although I have always emphasized that I don’t like to limit my music to a single aspect. For me, funk is a big, unified musical family. In addition to ostentatious funk, I also explored different themes and styles within funk and outside of it. Therefore, I see myself as a funk player, MC, composer, musician and, thank God, one of the representatives of this vibrant music scene. What I really believe defines ostentatious funk, as I mentioned initially, are the specific elements that we highlight in the songs and music videos.

His hits, such as “Tá Patrão” and “Plaque de 100”, are marked by lyrics that portray a life of luxury and ostentation. What is the message behind these songs and how do you relate them to your own story?

The songs “Tá Patrão” and “Plaque de 100” are true ostentatious funk anthems, representing much more than simple musical hits. The essence of these songs lies in the journey of overcoming a young man from the outskirts of Osasco, without great prospects in life, looking for a way to help his family without resorting to harmful shortcuts. Through funk and music, this young man managed to achieve far beyond what he had ever dreamed of, achieving not only success, but also a new financial reality for himself and his loved ones.

This story of overcoming and triumph, immortalized in the lyrics, resonated deeply with countless young people from similar communities, who found themselves represented and inspired. These songs transcended the musical scene, becoming a symbol of hope and fulfillment for many people with similar life trajectories, spreading the message that it is possible to evolve and transform one’s reality through art and persistence.

You have participated in several television programs and collaborated with renowned artists. What was your experience like in this process of insertion in major media and musical partnerships?

I have always based my career on the love for what I do, on the passion for music, art and the lifestyle it provides me. I experience each moment with gratitude and pleasure, which I consider to be the true essence of success. Participating in great programs and collaborating with renowned artists is the realization of a dream, a victory that I celebrate with each new step.

The journey is not without challenges, we face daily struggles to maintain our path, but I believe that positivity and a good flow of energy are fundamental. When we are well, we attract good and share this good vibration with those around us. This is the foundation on which I built my career: hard work and professionalism, always open to new possibilities and reaching places where my music hadn’t reached yet. My journey so far has been incredibly rewarding and natural.

I thank God for everything I have already achieved and I maintain the faith that there is still much more to be accomplished. I am always ready for the work that lies ahead, looking forward to everything that is yet to happen.

You’ve released several singles and collaborations throughout your career, including songs with international artists like Soulja Boy. What was it like working with artists from other countries and how has that influenced your music?

Working in the studio and collaborating with other artists is, for me, a way of approaching life in a lighter and more pleasant way. The connection that arises when you are aligned with another artist in the studio, and the synergy that is created when working with partners, enriches not only the art, but also the dissemination of the work. Furthermore, it contributes significantly to the legacy I intend to leave, a value that I have always prioritized since the beginning of my career.

My experience with international artists has been particularly enriching, opening doors to learning about new cultures and perspectives. A milestone in this regard was the collaboration with Soulja Boy, an artist I have always admired. His tour in Brazil and the opportunity to perform together in different states were surreally gratifying moments, materializing a childhood dream. Recording a song with him, in addition to the interaction and shared experiences, was incredibly valuable. And with enthusiasm, I announce that we have another collaboration on the way.

In 2023, you participated in the reality show Big Brother Brasil as a member of the group camarote. What was this experience like and how did it impact your personal and professional life?

Participating in BBB 23 was an incredible experience for me. I had the opportunity to meet many people, some of whom became friends that I still maintain today. Living the reality of a reality show, spending 70 days confined, facing the ups and downs, mistakes and successes, was a unique journey that, fortunately, was very well received by the public. I’m grateful that so many people have identified with my way of playing, my personality and, in essence, with who I am – not just Guilherme Dantas, the BBB participant, but the individual behind the television personality.

It’s exciting to be stopped on the streets, receive hugs and hear that people are rooting for me. This experience profoundly affected my life, both personally and professionally. Thank God, I managed to get through this phase with dignity, and now I’m focused on continuing my work with music. This time at BBB certainly left a significant mark on my career, something that people still like to comment on and remember when they meet me.

In addition to your music career, you are also recognized for your presence at events and parties. How do you balance your professional and personal life, especially in a busy scene like music?

Living a musical life means being constantly immersed in events and parties, even when we are not performing. Whether due to professional commitments, connections with organizers, or simply for the pleasure of attending performances by artists we admire, music accompanies us 24 hours a day. This involvement is something that is already part of our being, reserving days in the calendar to enjoy events, parties and shows.

Fortunately, I can maintain a healthy balance between my professional and personal life quite smoothly and naturally. Even with a busy and hectic schedule, I have the ability to take care of my health, dedicate time to my family and focus on other areas of life besides music. This balance allows me to conduct my career in a calm and organic way, enjoying every moment without work consuming my entire being.

What message would you like to convey to your fans and those who follow your career?

I wish the best to all those who follow, identify with and admire my work. This year 2024 is full of inspiration for me, I am dedicated in the studio, working tirelessly on many songs and projects to come. We will always be connected through social media, sharing positive messages, exchanging ideas and bringing lots of work and entertainment.

In conclusion, I want to encourage all fans to never give up on their dreams, believe in themselves, regardless of the circumstances. Cultivate faith and do good, as the harvest will certainly be one of victory.
