Salomão do Reggae

Salomão Rocha, known as Salomão do Reggae, is a singer, composer, vocal director and producer. He began his musical career in the 1990s as the lead singer of the black music/soul band Canal de Deus. A resident of Cabo Frio since he was nine years old, Salomão heard a specific calling: to transmit God’s love, through Jesus, to alternative people, generally marginalized by society.

In order to get closer to this community, Salomão became a craftsman and began to interact with the hippie world and other groups, realizing that reggae would be the best language to reach these people. In 2001, after a prayer in which he asked God for “REGGAE”, he composed his first song in the genre: JESUS O SOL E O REGGAE.

Having used reggae as a form of evangelization for almost 20 years, Salomão first appeared on YouTube in 2007, when a friend posted a video of an evangelistic visit. He discovered the success of his songs when he searched for the title Based on What? and found a video with thousands of views, popularizing the name “Reggae Solomon” throughout Brazil.

Converted to the Gospel at the age of 11, in a traditional context, Solomon had never had contact with reggae before his prayer. He is proud of never having used drugs and, over the years, has dedicated himself to caring for people who face these problems.

Married to Dayanne for 15 years and father of Zafher and Zahara, Solomon remains steadfast in his life mission, touching hearts with his music and faith.
