At 9 years old, young artist Sophia Eldo is already a phenomenon on social media and in the K-pop universe. About to release her original song, I’m a Lucky Girl, on November 10, Sophia has been mobilizing a legion of fans with her personal lyrics and an animated video, which express her passion for Korean culture. The hashtag #LuckyGirlSophia is going viral, and anticipation is growing among her followers, who highlight the artist’s authenticity and charisma.
What inspired you to write “I’m a Lucky Girl”? What was the process like of turning your experiences into music?
My experience in South Korea in July and all the love I received from my fans gave me a lot of strength and inspired me deeply.
Korean culture and K-pop are very strong influences on your work. What do you like most about this style and how has it helped shape your artistic identity?
I consume a lot of this culture and I was delighted! The trip in July only reinforced this, but I don’t forget my roots. Much of who I am as an artist is based on these two experiences. As a content creator and influencer, I share art, culture, gastronomy and fashion, always with a Brazilian touch, but also with what I like and consume from abroad.
The animated video for “I’m a Lucky Girl” is very colorful and vibrant. How did you participate in creating this visual universe?
It was a beautiful process! My team and I decided to create a completely anime version, with the colors I love, so that the fans would feel like they were part of the MV and my universe.
How do you feel about all the excitement on social media and the support from your fans using the hashtag #LuckyGirlSophia?
I’m so happy! Without my sweets, none of this would be possible.
What do you hope your fans feel when they hear “I’m a Lucky Girl”? Is there a special message you’d like them to receive?
May there be no limits to our dreams! May music be a source of energy, courage and luck.
What is it like for someone so young to juggle a music career and maintain an authentic connection with your followers?
It’s amazing! I feel like I’m friends with everyone.
With the release of this single, what do you see as your next step in your career? Are you already thinking about new songs or projects?
Who knows, maybe one day, right? I think it’s too early to talk about it, but today I see myself as a content creator, influencer, singer and actress. In fact, in January, I’m going to take part in a musical.
Lastly, what does it mean to you to be a young artist representing K-pop in Brazil?
I feel honored and hope to always be here for my sweets. I want to continue bringing joy, content, art and entertainment. Together, we are even better.
