Duda Raupp , beatmaker , music producer and multi-instrumentalist, is preparing to release “Planos Pra Nós” on November 27th, another milestone in his career in the national rap scene. With previous collaborations with names such as Cristal, Victor Xamã and Rashid, this time, Duda reversed roles and invited the rapper to join the project. The track mixes beats inspired by 1970s Soul with rap and lyrics of dubious interpretation, reinforced by a catchy chorus sung by Ivyson . Despite reminding us of a lovesong , the song addresses a broader theme: the connection with nature and the importance of preserving it.

With verses that move between phases of a relationship and reflections on human relations with the environment, “Planos Pra Nós” promises to be more than just a song — a warning about the need to reconnect with the earth. The single also marks the beginning of a new project by Duda, which mixes rap and soul with deep meanings and special guests, through the label Foco Na Missão.

“Planos Pra Nós” presents a dubious interpretation, but with a strong connection to nature. What was the process like of translating this idea into a song that also addresses themes such as relationships and regret?

In fact, it was Rashid who suggested this theme in the song. I told him that, since I was producing a Soul album, I wanted the songs to have themes of love or relationships, but with an ambiguity to other subjects. In this case, Rashid wrote his parts first, and suggested this duality in the lyrics, which talk about the relationship between human beings and the earth as if they were talking to someone they have a relationship with. Ivyson and I immediately identified with the theme and we followed it that way. I hope that this song invites people to reflect, really. About each person’s relationship with the nature that surrounds us. How it is a breath of fresh air for us, and how we can be a suffocation for it.

You’ve worked with some of the biggest names in rap, and now you’ve brought Rashid and Ivyson to this project. What was the creative process like as a group, and what do you think each of you brought that was unique to the song?

The creative process was very fluid. Planos Pra Nós will be part of an album I’m planning for 2025, which draws on the sound of 70s and 80s Soul. So, I’ve been creating some instrumentals with this texture, and I’m sending them to artists I want to participate, who I feel fit the idea. In the case of this song, I sent some options for instrumental ideas to Rashid, who quickly chose the one that stuck. We talked about this idea of duality, and he proposed the theme of the song, sending me his verse written and sung. From there, we found Ivyson, who immediately agreed, understood the idea and composed his parts too. They’re both incredibly creative artists and this made the process easier, even from a distance, it was very smooth.

The sound of “Planos Pra Nós” combines seventies soul with futuristic elements. How do you find balance when mixing such distinct references and how does this reflect your identity as a producer?

I’ve always listened to a lot of Soul, and for the past few years I ‘ve been listening to some references that bring this sound to the surface in songs released recently. In my productions there’s always something that comes from that, whether consciously or unconsciously. I don’t think Rap and R&B are far from Soul, I see them as very similar. Throughout history, one thing has influenced the other. Soul albums have always been sampled in Rap. So, I think this mix makes sense.

The postponement of the project due to the floods brought a new layer of meaning to the song. How did these events impact your vision of the message you want to convey with the album as a whole?

The floods in Rio Grande do Sul certainly had a big impact on what this song means to me, and even on the message it conveys. During the months in which the tragedy happened, that was all we lived through, that was all we looked at. I don’t know a single person who wasn’t directly or indirectly affected by the floods. In addition to the reflection that the song proposes about our relationship with nature, which certainly comes to the surface with the tragedy, I also hope that my album helps bring a little more visibility to music made in RS. Artists from Rio Grande do Sul and the music made there are already very little visible to the rest of the country, and with the impact of the flood, it has become even more difficult for many people to have the opportunity to invest time in their art.

Morro da Tapera was chosen as the setting for the visualizer and to inspire the cover of the single. What does this place represent to you and how does it connect with the essence of “Planos Pra Nós”?

I honestly didn’t know Morro da Tapera before recording the visualizer there. Even though it’s a beautiful tourist spot in the city, it’s not very well-known to those who don’t live in the South Zone, which is my case. When Amanda Flores, the creative director of the single’s visuals, and I started thinking about the visualizer and places to record, we got a recommendation from a friend who had already been there. The hill was simply perfect for what we were thinking. Our idea was to highlight “the man” looking at an imposing view, as if he were looking at the Earth, with whom he has a relationship, and reflecting on everything he built there, on it and with it. As if he were thinking: “How wonderful it is, but how I regret everything I’ve done to it.” The trail to the top of the hill is beautiful, and the view is even more incredible. Since we went, it’s become a place I use as a refuge and to seek tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

You believe that music can be a powerful tool to raise environmental awareness. How does “Planos Pra Nós” fit into this role and how do you hope it will inspire people to take better care of nature?

I hope that whoever listens to “Planos Pra Nós” can simply reflect on their relationship with our planet and with nature. The song does not convey a direct message about what should be done or how, but rather a breath of fresh air to think about it. I believe that each of us has a different relationship with the world around us, but that it is important for everyone to seek, at some level, this relationship and respect for nature.
