Nashville-based country singer-songwriter Katelyn Clampett is releasing her new single “Aspen” on December 13, a fun and loving song dedicated to her newlywed husband, whom she married in Hawaii. Known for her unique style that blends humor with country music, Katelyn wrote and produced the track. With a career that includes appearances on American Idol and Bravo’s Platinum Hit, and over 250 million views across social media platforms, the artist continues to captivate audiences with her talent and charisma.

You’ve had some memorable moments on stages around the world, but Nashville seems to be your creative base. How does this city influence the way you write and share your music?

I love Nashville. Even when I lived in LA, my heart was always calling me to Nashville. It’s a city of writers, and I’ve always considered myself a true writer. Nashville has allowed me to be the best songwriter I can be because the quality of the songs here is unmatched.

You’ve won millions of hearts with your music and your humor. What inspired you to mix country with a dose of lightness and comedy, and how do you think that connects with your audience?

Oh, thank you! I’ve been a songwriter for a while, but I think comedy has been a constant “vibe” for me since I was a little girl. The older I got, the stronger that vibe became, until it became a whisper and then a loud voice. For a while, I didn’t quite understand how I could combine the two, because I felt like I had to choose between them… follow one path. Then I realized I could create my own. Since I’ve always been interested in both, I realized that combining them would allow me to be the most authentic artist I could be, which would be more sustainable for me in the long run.

Your experience on competitions like American Idol and Platinum Hit certainly shaped your career. What do you think these platforms added to your style and musical vision?

When I went on American Idol, I was young and didn’t fully know who I was. During Hollywood Week, I actually had two songs prepared. One was a song that I really wanted to sing, that felt true to me (I actually changed the lyrics to a popular song to make a creative tribute to one of the judges). The other was a song that a family member wanted me to sing. Being the people pleaser that I am, I chose the song that my family wanted, and I didn’t make it to the next round. It was an unfortunate but important lesson early on in my career to always trust my instincts and do what feels right to me, no matter who I might disappoint. It definitely helped shape the level of confidence I have in myself and the authenticity that I try to carry with me in everything I do artistically.

With millions of views on social media, your work has crossed borders. What is it like to know that your songs and jokes touch so many people around the world?

I think it’s validation! Every time that happens, I’m so grateful. There’s a lot of work that goes into it, and that’s what makes it all worthwhile when people connect with anything I put out.

You’ve had songs featured on TV shows like Dancing With The Stars and Britain’s Got Talent . What goes through your mind when you hear your music in such emblematic productions?

It’s pretty surreal. I sit at home in my sweatpants and messy bun and watch people connect with something I’ve written. Sometimes it makes me feel proud of myself for not giving up and staying true to my purpose, because there were so many times when I could have thrown it all away. I’m a firm believer in the power of songwriting, and I’m eternally grateful when someone believes in one of my songs.

You have plans for new live shows in 2025, and the audience seems eager for more. What are you most looking forward to doing live on stage and how does that experience fulfill you as an artist?

I have a lot of new music and stories to tell in 2025. One of the things I’m most looking forward to is doing more live shows online. I’ve found that I really enjoy connecting with my audience this way because it feels more relaxed and intimate… like we’re friends having fun together. Spaces where I can connect with my fans in an authentic way are very rewarding for me. I’m definitely looking forward to that in 2025!
