Lutze Chupin portrays the young princess in The Last Redemption, an Amazon film packed with action and emotion. After her father, the King, is murdered by a treacherous former subject, the princess is protected by “Silent Jack,” played by her father, Neb Chupin. Their on-screen interactions, though marked by Jack’s silence, are touching and powerful. The film’s cast also includes Angus MacFadyen and Kevin Sorbo, and audiences have responded positively, with the movie earning an impressive 90% approval rating.
You have a strong presence on screen, but we know your character is going through a moment of great vulnerability. How did you manage to balance this fragility with the strength that the princess portrays throughout the story?
I was scared and confused, didnt know what was happening, who are these people and why are they doing it to my father. The way I balanced it is that I didnt show on my face how scared I was.
The relationship between your character and “Silent Jack,” played by your father, Neb Chupin, is one of the most touching dynamics in the film. What was the experience of acting alongside him, especially considering that much of your interactions are in silence?
I have been expecting all along my father’s lines but i also realized he has no dialog and that was very odd and strange. Acting next to my father was very good, I felt calm and especially confident when I knew he was always next to me helping me with my acting and my lines.
“The Last Redemption” has a plot with intense emotional weight, mainly due to the King’s murder, which places your character in a situation of great loss. How did you prepare to play a character dealing with such profound trauma?
I imagined if it was really my father and thats how I prepared for the moment. I started hyperventilating and I put a serious face. Inside I was very confused.
We know the film blends action and emotion in a unique way. How did you approach the action moments in the film, where your character has to act quickly, without losing the emotional touch that allows the audience to connect with her?
It was easier for me to be emotional in action scenes because I was able to relate to my character much better. I pretended it was really happening and I ran very fast.
Alongside names like Angus MacFadyen and Kevin Sorbo, how did you feel being part of such a renowned cast? Was there any interaction or scene with these actors that particularly stood out to you during filming?
Most of my scenes were with Natalie Burn, my dad and another brother played by jack Ilco. I spend lots of time in their company talking and playing.
With such a positive reception from the audience and a 90% approval rating, how do you handle this warm feedback? What touched you most about the audience’s reactions to your performance in this film?
I was really happy and inspired me to do more acting.
