At just 8 years old, young actress and singer Luísa Guedes is already an emerging talent in the artistic scene. Born in Recife and based in Rio de Janeiro, the little star began her career at the age of 3 in advertising campaigns and fashion editorials, and soon made a name for herself in music and musical theater. In 2024, she gains prominence in her first soap opera, “Dona de Mim,” on Rede Globo, where she will play the character Antônia, a major challenge that promises to reveal even more of her talent.

You began your artistic journey at a very young age, at just 3 years old, in advertising campaigns. What was it like for you to discover this world so early on, and what fascinated you the most when you stepped onto a film set for the first time?

I thought it was amazing. I used to see actresses and actors on TV and in movies and was completely enchanted. When I stepped onto a set for the first time, I felt at home—it was a feeling of happiness.

The soap opera Dona de Mim marks your debut on Globo’s screen and is a big step in your career. How did it feel to receive the news that you would be part of the cast, and what went through your mind at that moment?

I was at a musical audition when my agent called my mom. She spoke to me over video, and I got very emotional. A dream was coming true at that moment—being part of a soap opera for the first time.

You play Antônia, a character who, according to you, is quite different from who you are in real life. What were the biggest challenges in bringing Antônia to life, and how did you work to connect with her personality?

Yes, she has attitudes and behaviors that are nothing like mine. The biggest challenge was portraying a character who causes situations that make another child sad—in this case, Sofia (Elis Cabral).

I studied the scripts I received and tried to understand why she behaves that way, and then built from what I observed. I also had the support of Cristina Bethencourt, who is the child cast coach for the show.

The soap opera’s cast includes experienced and renowned actors. What has it been like to work with them on a daily basis, and what have you learned from these backstage exchanges?

Every time I get to be with them on set or behind the scenes, it’s amazing. I have a lot of respect and admiration for them. They’re very attentive and kind to us.

The show is written by Rosane Svartman, a writer known for light-hearted, current stories that touch the audience’s hearts. What do you find most captivating about Dona de Mim, and how do you feel your character contributes to the storyline?

It’s such a great story. When my mom was pregnant with me, she used to watch Totalmente Demais, also written by Rosane Svartman and Paulo Halm, and wouldn’t miss a single episode. My dad even joked that he wanted me to be born with Marina Ruy Barbosa’s hair—she was the star of the show. Coincidence or not, I was born a redhead and now here I am making my debut in a soap opera written by Rosane. They never imagined I’d want to be an actress.

Dona de Mim touches on important themes and is also fun. I’m really excited to see the connection between Leo and Sofia—it’s going to be very emotional. Antônia brings moments that make us reflect on our actions and how they can affect others.

Playing a role in a soap opera requires a lot of dedication, discipline, and emotion. How do you balance your filming schedule with school and the life of an 8-year-old girl?

I handle everything very calmly. I go to school in the morning, and when I have filming, it’s usually in the afternoon. I have time to study, have fun with my friends, and enjoy my family—it’s all super chill.

Antônia will experience some important situations in the plot. Is there a scene you’ve already filmed—or one that’s coming up—that you’re especially excited for the audience to see?

Yes, but I can’t talk about it yet. It’s a scene that will bring both emotion and fun at the same time.

With so much dedication and charm, you already inspire many children who dream of pursuing an artistic career. What would you like to say to other boys and girls who also dream of acting, singing, and expressing themselves through art?

Thank you for the love. What I can say is: don’t stop dreaming and chasing your goals. Family support is essential for all of this to happen. You need to have faith and believe. Study, stay dedicated, and start somewhere.
