With songs that touch on everything from anxiety and bullying to lighthearted and fun moments, singer McKenna Camille has been gaining recognition in the music scene for her authenticity. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she combines solid training, talent, and personal experiences to craft lyrics that resonate with thousands of fans. A symbol of resilience and a standout presence at events like Paris and New York Fashion Week, McKenna uses her art as a tool for connection, strength, and empowerment—especially for those facing emotional challenges similar to her own.

You’ve been open about how your struggles with anxiety, OCD, and depression have impacted your music. What was it like transforming those personal experiences into something that resonates with so many people?

For better or worse we are in a time when mental health is discussed quite candidly. I’m lucky for this because I’m not exactly doing anything too controversial, I’m simply adding to a space and I’m thrilled I can.

Your hit song ” Bad One” touches on themes of anxiety and bullying. What was it like for you to share these emotions with the public and how did it affect your own perception of yourself?

“Bad One” is my anti-bullying anthem in many ways. To its core, it’s about losing friends because you’re being bullied, and watching those friends turn into the bullies. It felt great to share this story with the public!

You have a laid-back, fun energy, as we can hear in “Strawberry Shortcake ” and other songs. How do you balance that lightness with the deeper emotions you address in your lyrics?

I just love writing what I’m feeling and what’s happening so it doesn’t really feel like something I need to balance, as it’s totally fluid.

In addition to your musical career, you are a graduate of Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. How has your academic background influenced your artistic style and approach to music?

NYU specifically is a school where you can really learn the ins and outs of your entire industry. I tried to dip my toes into everything related to the entertainment industry so I was best set up for when I graduated. It’s been great having so many tools in my back pocket.

You perform at events like New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. How have these experiences of performing on major international stages influenced your journey as an artist?

I feel so lucky that I get to travel for performances. Paris Fashion Week was done on a whim and it was amazing! Every performance I do big, or small shapes my career.

You mentioned your passion for water sports and spending time in nature. How do these moments of connection with water and nature impact your creativity and artistic process?

Water Skiing is my outlet for when songwriting isn’t getting the job done. Sometimes, there’s only so many words you can say and exercise is the only thing that will help. This helps with getting writer’s block, helps keep me on my toes and not bored of being creative in general.

You are an example of overcoming and inspiration for many of your fans. What would you like your followers, especially those facing similar challenges to you, to take away from your story and music?

If someone says you can’t achieve something, drop everything and achieve it!
