Russell Quinn, known for his acclaimed work in “Blood Behind Us,” takes the spotlight in the irreverent series “Egypte 4: Double Agenda,” directed by Tanner Beard. Shot entirely on an iPhone 15 and filmed across 10 countries over two years, the production blends humor, action, and thriller elements, showcasing Quinn’s talent in a storyline that pushes the boundaries of comedy. Alongside a cast that includes Alix Van Aernam, Katherine McNamara, and Beard himself, Quinn further proves his versatility in a story that brings laughter and surprises with its creative use of technology.
You play one of the main characters in Egypte 4: Double Agenda, a series that blends humor, action, and espionage. What attracted you most to the project and your role?
What attracted me most was the opportunity to play my twin. A role I was born for.. twice! It’s been a dream of mine mostly because I’ve spent years preparing by talking to myself.
Filming in 10 countries and working with a group of close friends must have created memorable moments. What was the most fun or striking experience during the shoot?
It would be between either saving Alix’s life when he almost actually fell off a four story roof, or going inside the actual Great Pyramid.. I’d say the pyramid.
How was it to work under the direction of Tanner Beard, who also acted in the series? How did he influence your creative process and bring lightness to the set?
It was amazing working with Tanner. He’s always got a clear vision of what he wants in his head, which makes my job a whole lot easier.
The series was filmed entirely with an iPhone 15, which is unusual for a production of this scope. How did this technological approach affect the filming dynamics and your performance?
It was actually a lot of fun because we could really run and gun without using a big camera set up . Shows how talented Tanner is being able to pull this off with just an iPhone.
Egypte 4: Double Agenda carries a cheeky tone that challenges the conventions of the genre. Did you relate to this mix and the opportunity to explore a more comedic and adventurous side on screen?
Absolutely? And fans of The Naked Gun out there? That’s the idea for the tone of this series which Tanner and I both really enjoy.
The ending promises to surprise audiences. Without giving away spoilers, what would you say was the most challenging and rewarding aspect of working on such an out-of-the-box production?
Without any spoilers? Let’s just say you’ll see how was able to stay cool under such intense pressure.
