Native American and Latin actor and stuntman Skyler Bible is about to step into the spotlight as Agent Foster in the highly anticipated live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, set to hit theaters on May 23, 2025. Filmed in Oahu, Hawaii, the movie features Bible as the right-hand man to Cobra Bubbles, acting as the voice in his ear during the hunt for the alien Stitch. Alongside a star-studded cast that includes Zach Galifianakis, Courtney B. Vance, Billy Magnussen, and Maia Kealoha, Skyler is also preparing for other major projects, such as the comedy-drama See You When I See You, directed by Jay Duplass, and the indie film Grizzly Night, directed by Burke Doeren.
Skyler, your role as Agent Foster in Lilo & Stitch certainly comes with high expectations. How did you prepare to play this character, and what do you hope the audience will feel when they see your performance in the animated live-action remake?
I wanted to show up as prepared as possible, be able to improvise if/when needed, and be the best version of this character. My greatest hope is to have any number of audience members—one, even two—haha, to laugh and enjoy my performance and the performances around me!
We know the film was shot in Oahu, Hawaii, a place with a unique energy. What was the experience like filming in such an immersive setting, and how did it impact your performance as Agent Foster?
Shooting in Hawaii made me feel at home in the character as well as just in general. Hawaii is a magical place, and it definitely shines through. There is such a “welcome home” vibe in Hawaii, at least from what I encountered, that made its way into the movie without a doubt. That’s what it’s all about, right? Ohana, family, and family welcomes you home. There was such a welcoming vibe on set as well, a feeling like I was supposed to be there, a comfort that I loved that captured that Aloha spirit.
Agent Foster communicates a lot with Cobra Bubbles. What was it like working with other cast members, such as Zach Galifianakis and Courtney B. Vance, to create a dynamic that felt convincing and engaging for the audience?
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to work with Zach Galifianakis as much as I wanted to, but I had the privilege of working with Courtney B. Vance in most of the scenes I was in. He was nothing but inspiring and easy to work with, always down to play and improvise. He is such an icon and lived up to every hope that I had. He’s such a great performer that he elevated my performance as well. He’s the best.
The original Lilo & Stitch movie won many hearts, especially with its touching storyline and captivating characters. What do you think fans can expect from this new live-action version, and what will it bring differently or refreshingly for new generations?
I think fans want that nostalgia, the Stitch they grew up with, and they want to see that in a live-action version. I think this live-action remake of Lilo and Stitch will be so true to the original but also have that touch of Dean’s style and tone, which will make it even better.
In addition to Lilo & Stitch, you have other exciting projects coming up, such as See You When I See You and Grizzly Night. How do these projects differ from your role in Lilo & Stitch, and what are you most excited to explore in these new challenges?
I am so very excited for these projects to come out. They are each very different stories, and I play very different characters in both, so I can’t wait until audiences get to watch them. They are very different from Lilo and Stitch. But I tackle each one the same way—starting from a clean slate and then building out each one. I love exploring characters that are far from myself and finding the route to get to the most real version of them.
Your Native American and Latin heritage seems to be an important part of who you are. Do you think this cultural background influences how you choose your roles and connect with your characters?
Definitely, my heritage will always influence the roles I take on. I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, and finding someone that I relate to on-screen is so impactful, so I hope and aim to do that with the roles I take on.
Working with Disney is a major achievement for any actor. How do you view this experience in terms of your growth as a professional, and what did it mean to be part of such an iconic project?
I’m just so grateful for the opportunity and the space to perform on such a massive scale. I hope it will open more and more doors to continue to perform at such a scale. I am so very honored to be even a small part of such an iconic and beloved film.
With the release of Lilo & Stitch in May 2025, you’ll definitely be in the spotlight. What are your expectations for the film’s impact, and what do you think is the biggest lesson the film can impart to the audience?
I just hope it connects with the audience in the way the original did. It was such an influential film that molded the way I see family, and I hope this one does the same, as I’m sure it will. I think the biggest lesson from this film will be the acceptance of those who don’t necessarily “fit.” Whether that means into your family, your friend group, or your classroom—an acceptance, a welcoming, and inviting spirit.
