At just 5 years old, Luke Speakman made his television debut alongside Victoria Pedretti in Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories. Since then, he has built a career that now leads him to the cast of WEAPONS, the highly anticipated Warner Bros. thriller directed by Zach Cregger, set to premiere on August 8, 2025. Starring alongside names such as Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, and Julia Garner, the young actor also boasts credits with platforms like Peacock, NBC, Hulu, Disney+, and QCODE Media, as well as international productions, including Lost Man Found, filmed in Japan.

You started your career at a very young age, just 5 years old. What are your most memorable memories from that time, especially working alongside Victoria Pedretti in Amazing Stories?

I was really little back then—like, barely 5—so I don’t remember everything perfectly. But it was my very first acting job, and I’ll never forget how nice Victoria Pedretti was to me. I remember sitting right next to her in the hair and makeup chair, and we talked like we’d known each other forever. Between takes, she even hung out with me and answered all my questions—and trust me, I had a lot of questions!

Your new project, WEAPONS, is a thriller directed by Zach Cregger. What was it like acting alongside big names like Josh Brolin and Julia Garner so early in your journey?

It was unbelievable! I mean, working with big Hollywood actors is like every kid actor’s dream, and I got to do it when I was really young—it felt like something straight out of my imagination. I tried to enjoy every single second. I love watching how really good actors handle certain scenes or emotions, so I kind of took mental notes the whole time. I learned a ton, and I definitely didn’t take it for granted.

You’ve filmed productions in different parts of the world, such as Lost Man Found in Japan. What was it like working in a different culture and language? Did it change the way you see acting?

Absolutely! Working in Japan really opened my eyes to how huge the acting world is. When I was only 8—almost 9—I had no clue there were productions going on all over the world! It was definitely a challenge being on a set where most people spoke a different language, but it actually pushed me to do better. I think stepping out of your comfort zone is one of the best ways to grow, both as an actor and as a person. Plus, it gave me the confidence to try more projects in other countries. In fact, I’m about to hop on a plane to Brazil to work on an awesome film!

We know that film sets can be challenging, but also a lot of fun. Was there a funny or curious moment that happened behind the scenes of WEAPONS or another recent project?

Set life is seriously the best life!  I am one lucky kid to get to spend my childhood growing up behind the scenes!  The WEAPONS set was always a blast.  One cool thing is that production gave me an iPhone to walk around and take pictures, videos, and interviews from behind the scenes.  My favorite BHS interview was with Josh Brolin.  He was always joking around.   Josh decided he wanted to interview me.  He began by introducing himself as the van driver and then kept making silly faces into the screen every time I tried to answer his questions.  We eventually finished, though I am pretty sure none of it will be usable!

With so many credits at such a young age, how do you balance your career with school, friendships, and free time? Is there something you enjoy doing to “unplug” from the world of cameras?

As unbelievable as it may sound, I live a pretty normal kid life!  When I am not working, I am home in Georgia playing on my little league baseball team, training in Ninja Warrior or running around with my pup Waffles!  Most of what I do is not something kids watch, so most of my friends have no idea what I do!  I am just a normal every day kid at the ballpark siding in the Georgia clay!  I also do online school so that I never get behind on my studies.  I think it is important to have this balance.  You’re only a kid once in your life and I don’t want to miss it!

You’ve worked in TV, film, and voiceover. Is there a role or type of story you haven’t done yet but dream of playing one day?

If you have asked me this question a week ago, I would say an Action Movie!  However, I just booked an amazing action project filming January 2026! (Stay tuned!). Now, I think it would be a role in the Percy Jackson series. I love the books and am a big fan of the series – having the opportunity to portray a character on screen would be epic!
