The Rede Governança Brasil (RGB) visited the Brazilian Defense Material Industry (Imbel) for an institutional meeting that represents more than just an encounter: it marks a concrete step toward strengthening public governance in Brazil.
The meeting provided an opportunity to closely observe Imbel’s governance team, whose work has already been nationally recognized with awards from RGB itself, establishing the company as a benchmark in the sector. During the visit, it became evident that Imbel not only adopts governance practices but has embedded them into its organizational culture.
General Canhaci, Imbel’s CEO, emphasized the company’s commitment to transparency, risk management, and compliance, underscoring that governance is an inseparable part of its institutional strategy. The presence of leaders such as Colonel Lisboa, Head of Risk Management and Compliance, accompanied by Colonel Sanchez and staff member Renata, highlighted the collective effort to uphold high standards of integrity and efficiency.
According to General Canhaci, “IMBEL is committed to the highest governance standards, striving to ensure the utmost level of corporate integrity and ethics in its operations in the Defense and Security market. The partnership with RGB represents a guarantee of sustainable growth and the strengthening of the company’s credibility.”
The meeting also opened the door to new prospects. Discussions included the formalization of a Technical Cooperation Agreement between Imbel and RGB, which will allow Imbel’s staff to join RGB’s thematic committees. This integration is strategic: beyond sharing Imbel’s award-winning experiences, it will also enable the company to absorb lessons and best practices from other organizations within RGB’s network, fostering a virtuous cycle of knowledge exchange and innovation.
Representing RGB, President Cristiane Nardes and Director of Institutional Relations Elise Brites emphasized the importance of Imbel not only receiving awards but also inspiring other public organizations to advance their governance models. “Imbel proves that governance is not just theory — it is applied practice that delivers results and strengthens society’s trust,” said Nardes.
The alignment between Imbel and RGB reaffirms that sound governance is essential to institutional excellence and the delivery of public value. More than a symbolic gesture, the visit reinforces the role of governance as a transformative tool in Brazil’s public sector, highlighting Imbel as a model of leadership and RGB as a catalyst for this change.
