Enis Berger Talks Music, Emotion, and the Meaning Behind His Artistic Identity

Enis Berger

German singer and producer Enis Berger is shaping his identity within the EDM scene through an emotionally driven approach focused on connection. Inspired by personal experiences, including the breakup that led to his track Love Again, Berger turns raw feelings into music while aiming to create a space where listeners feel understood. In this interview, he discusses his journey, influences such as Alan Walker and Avicii, the meaning behind his mask, and his vision for growing as an artist in electronic music.

You started producing music after a breakup, and your first track Love Again came from that experience. How did music help you process that moment in your life?

When I wrote the lyrics to “Love Again,” I poured all my feelings into them, and it really helped me process everything. Producing music is a process filled with feelings and emotions.

Your goal is to connect people around the world and remind them they are not alone. How do you translate that message into your music?

In my songs, I try above all to create a melancholic mood through the lyrics; I also make sure to write about situations that reflect real life, such as heartbreak, grief, joy, and other emotions. Music is a process full of emotions, whether it’s during production, while writing, or even just when listening.

You chose EDM as your main genre. What draws you to this style, and how would you describe your sound within it?

I chose EDM as my main genre because I enjoy listening to it myself and have loved this genre ever since the release of “Faded” by Alan Walker. I’m also a huge Alan Walker fan—he’s my role model. To me, he and Avicii are two of the best EDM producers who have ever lived. About my Sound? I would describe my style as melancholic and emotional, with modern EDM beats and productions. As I said, my lyrics are more emotional, and my productions are modern EDM tracks with big drops and lots of pads and synths.

You work with FL Studio and Ableton. How do these tools influence your creative process?

For me, FL Studio and Ableton are the most user-friendly DAWs for producing EDM tracks, and they’re also easy and straightforward to use. Most of my friends, like Avorra and Kraftfon, use them too, so that’s the best way to go and… But in the end, it doesn’t matter which DAW you use or which plugins—it’s the art of creating something new and good out of very little.

The mask is a strong part of your artistic identity. What does it represent to you, and how does it connect to your music?

I wear the mask as a symbol; it doesn’t matter who I am or what I look like, it’s the music that connects us. Regardless of origin or genre, all people love music. Music unites us all! In my private life, I’m a person who laughs a lot and is always in a good mood, hence the happy emoji.

Even at this early stage in your career, you already have a clear sense of purpose. How do you see your growth as an artist in the coming years?

For people discovering your music for the first time, what kind of feeling or experience do you hope to create?

I hope they feel understood, it should feel like a safe place for them because no one is alone. Music unites.
