With a career spanning fashion and photography, Brazilian artist Mateus Dutra ushers in a new creative phase with the launch of Atelier Dutré, a brand dedicated to functional art pieces. Combining brutalist style with delicate, organic curves, the work proposes a dialogue between strength and lightness, tradition and innovation.
The pieces are produced in partnership with the family’s marble company, exploring the sophistication of IBMG’s Super White marble, and boast a unique identity that combines design and excellent raw materials.
The atelier’s journey began in style: Mateus Dutra’s first exhibition was held at the MAC in Niterói, one of the most renowned contemporary art spaces in Brazil. The collection on display, entitled “Force et Subtilité,” explores volumes, textures, and cuts that tension the weight of marble with the lightness of form.
Currently residing in New York, Mateus maintains a strong connection with Brazil, reflected in his frequent visits to the country. Atelier Dutré was born as a manifesto of aesthetics and functionality, reflecting the vision of an artist who transforms stone into poetry.
