On air as Professora Rosinha in “Mar do Sertão”, actress Sara Vidal is going all out in her second telenovela within Rede Globo. After participating in “As Aventuras de Poliana” on SBT and joining the cast of “Quanto Mais Vida Melhor”, she officially went from modeling on the catwalks to going straight to the Brazilian small screen.
Alongside her co-stars Enrique Diaz and Clarissa Pinheiro, Sara has become increasingly resourceful and celebrated her steps in Brazilian dramaturgy. Check out the interview!
How did you start modeling? Was it an invitation, did it happen by chance or was it something that, like acting, you wanted to do?
I’ve always wanted to. One day researching about becoming a model and everything else, I found a 2-day workshop at the 40º degrees agency and I signed up, my mother agreed to pay and take me to the capital of Rio. After 1 month or so, the mega model agency got in touch with my mother and invited me to try out in SP. We went and I was approved.
Considering you’re a skydiver by hobby, we assume you enjoy a challenge. In this sense, what are the biggest challenges and learnings that your character in Mar do Sertão brought you and what are the challenges you want for your career?
From the beginning, the accent was a big challenge for me.
How was your introduction to artistic life in Cabo Frio? Tell us a little about your first jobs or studies and how your interest in the area emerged in your life.
I started in a theater in Cabo Frio when I was 13, where I stayed until I was 15/16, I did 3 plays there. At 16, I emancipated myself and went to live in São Paulo, and there I took several courses. My first job was a participation in the telenovela ”The adventures of Poliana” where I played Aunt Luisa, then came my first fixed character on Globo, Bibi in ”The more life the better”, and soon after Rosinha in ”Mar do Sertão”.
How was your experience playing the character Rosinha in “Mar do Sertão”? Did you have any difficulties in interpreting the character, especially due to the northeastern accent? How did you prepare for this interpretation?
Yes, the accent was difficult at first. I did a lot of prosody in the beginning to understand and practice the accent, then I went on to build my character.
How would you describe your trajectory in the entertainment industry so far? What was the most challenging and rewarding moment in your career and how do you see your future in the industry?
I think that every job is challenging when you’re starting your career, but it becomes very rewarding with the experience/result of the work, everyone added me. I see myself moving forward working abroad.
Do you have any interesting or fun stories to share about your acting career? Have you had any funny or unexpected moments on set, or perhaps an interesting story about how you prepared for a specific role?
My character Bianca from ”The more life is better” had dilated cardiomyopathy, and I went after institutes through Facebook, calls, messages, and I had no response, I believe it was because of the pandemic. I decided to go to a consultation with a cardiologist, I explained the whole situation to the Dr, I asked her 389 questions about the life of a person with cardiomyopathy, I asked for all the tests that are normally done with this disease, and I did part of my laboratory there.
