In her grand debut in the theatrical universe, the young singer Lívia Corrêa, known for her participation in The Voice Kids in 2020, is ready to delight audiences in Campos dos Goytacazes and beyond. At the age of 14, Lívia will perform in the show “EscolinhaZinha do Professor Raimundo” in Cidade das Artes, in Rio de Janeiro, where she will demonstrate her talent not only in music, but also in dance and interpretation. In this adaptation aimed at children and young people, the artist will represent the character Tati, a teenage student who brings humor and irreverence to the questions proposed by the late master Chico Anysio.
Anxious and moved by the opportunity, Lívia shares her expectations for this new theatrical experience. The intensive rehearsals and the routine of weekly trips to the Rio de Janeiro capital show that the life of an artist requires sacrifices, but the young woman is determined to make this dream come true, with the support of her mother and everyone around her.
Lívia’s choice for the role was the result of auditions held in Rio de Janeiro, in which actress and director Cininha de Paula, responsible for the artistic direction of the musical, identified the vocal potential and talent for the performance of the young camper artist. Cininha points out that the show is a tribute to Chico Anysio and seeks to keep humor alive, discovering new comedians and ensuring that this artistic style, which is so important, continues to delight the public.
With its premiere scheduled for July 15th, “EscolinhaZinha do Professor Raimundo” promises to bring joy and fun, reaffirming the legacy of Chico Anysio and paving the way for new talents in the world of comedy.
How do you feel about making your theater debut with the show “EscolinhaZinha do Professor Raimundo”?
For me as an actress, it is an immense pleasure to be debuting with this incredible play, in honor of our incredible Chico Anísio, who was a very incredible comedian, a very good one, who marked the history of comedy. So for me it’s a pleasure, an honor actually, to be performing in this play.
How has the preparation been for playing the role of Tati and incorporating the character’s language and slang?
I’ve always identified with Tati, because she’s this cool teenager, that everyone likes, well, people… And because she talks a lot of slang. And I’ve always had this habit of saying everything much faster and with a lot of slang. Like, like I always say like. Type is a word I use a lot. So for me it was amazing to get her role.
What is the importance of this show adapted for children and young people in keeping Chico Anysio’s memory and humor alive?
Cininha always talks about how amazing Chico Anísio was at rehearsals. As a person, as an artist, as a comedian. And most of this new generation did not see, did not have the pleasure of seeing real comedy, the comedy that Chico Anísio did. I had the pleasure of getting to know Escolinhazinha, of getting even deeper into this play. But for us it’s so important, so incredible to be showing this comedy to people who don’t know it yet. It’s a pleasure to be representing Chico.
How has it been to reconcile the routine of intense rehearsals with studies and other responsibilities?
It’s not easy going to and from Rio every weekend. Nor is it easy to be a good student and get good grades. And it’s not easy having extracurricular activities every week. But all this is because of a dream, right? And for a dream we go to fight. And that’s what I’m doing. We try a little harder, but we know it’s all for a good cause, for a greater reason. We study along the way. I always study for the exams on the bus when I go to Rio, I watch video lessons, read my summaries… and I also study a lot during the week so I don’t have to study so much on the bus. And during the week I also have volleyball, English, but that’s what we manage. And it’s all to conquer the dream.
What are the main challenges you faced in joining theater after your participation in The Voice Kids?
Well, I’ve always liked acting. But since my area was music, I had uncertainties because I didn’t know if I was really good at that, if I was a good actress. So, I stayed there in my area, in my comfort zone. And then some time passed and my mother said: “Do you want to try? So let’s try. “And then we researched more about ourselves and found tests, until this test by Professor Raimundo’s Escolinhazinha came up and that was definitely one of my biggest challenges. I took this test a week before going to Rio so I could take it. So, it was very busy, I had to memorize speech very quickly, I had to improve my interpretation very quickly too. And interestingly, I played the role of Tati in the audition and won the role of Tati. This challenge is also being pleasurable, so it’s incredible.
How has it been working with director Cininha de Paula and the other cast members?
Cininha is a spectacular professional. I always tell her how different she is as a human being. I think a very different human being. She has too much energy, too much energy! And my stage mates are always there by my side and we’ve become really good friends. And we always talk, and we talk about life, not just on stage. But it’s always great to make friends, right? And they will definitely be here in my heart forever.
How do you believe this theater experience will contribute to your artistic and personal growth?
In my opinion, the artist has to be always changing, always evolving into his best version. So, I believe that this theater experience will contribute a lot to open more doors and, moreover, to my personal evolution as well, not only artistically. Because it’s going to be my first experience on a theater stage, in Cidade das Artes, and it’s going to be magical. It will be an experience that will mark me forever. Then that’s it. I think it will help me evolve.
What are your expectations for the premiere of the show? What do you hope to convey to the audience with your performance?
My expectations are way up there. My chip has not yet dropped that we are already in the month of the premiere. I’m really, really excited, I can’t even wait, I already want to go on stage so I can perform for all of you. I really hope to convey what Chico always conveyed: joy, laughter… I really want to make people happy. I want to see the smiles when I crack that joke. I want to make people laugh. Because I think that’s what we need in the world: more smiles.
Besides music, dance and acting, are there any other art forms you would like to explore in the future?
I think I’ve already experienced a lot: music, dance, acting…, but who knows if there’s a next version of Lívia? A Livia version 2.1000? Because I don’t even know how many versions I have. But…I really don’t know what I want to experience. But we will definitely try something else, yes. Because like I said, we have to be always changing, always evolving towards our best version.
How do you see the role of art, especially theater, in the education and entertainment of children and young people?
The theater awakens many things in human beings and one of these things is creativity. And we don’t even have time to be creative. Even because we are very trapped in our screens, in our homes. And we don’t have time for anything. There’s no time to communicate… I think that theater frees people. He frees our mind, our feelings, our emotions. It really helps us communicate and I think everyone needs theater in their lives.
