How did the partnership between you come about and how was the creative process for the new single “Carioca Luandense/Porsche”?

The two tracks were produced by me (Helio Crunk) and, as in most of our works, the composition was made from freestyle and took shape.

What is the message behind the song lyrics and what impact do you hope to have on listeners?

The message is the perspective of two young black Africans in the diaspora and all the causes and consequences of our lifestyle. We hope listeners get a taste of what it’s like to be Helio Crunk and Evan Maurilio.

How was the experience of producing the clip to accompany the release of the single? What were the inspirations and challenges encountered?

It has been working on audiovisual with Vitor Rezende (Vrz Work). We believe that we successfully met the challenge of visually conveying the same feeling that the tracks convey.

What are the musical influences that permeate the duo’s work? Do you have any artists or groups that inspire you?

We have a huge variety of references, we are privileged to have grown up with this duality of cultural panoramas living in Angola and here in Brazil, this is what sets us apart.

How was the process of growth and recognition within the Brazilian trap scene? What have been the most significant career milestones so far?

We had many different stages in this process. The reactions, the success of Fanta, the Ep Levante o Teto and the single Aulas e Cursos, are certainly the most significant milestones for us and our fans.

You have partnerships with other important artists of the genre. How do these collaborations enrich your work?

We always think about art in a very collaborative way, the very fact that we form a duo already enhances that. So, for us it is always a very pleasant process to collaborate with other artists.

Besides the new single, what are DNASTY’s future plans? Can we expect a full album or new collaborations?

We are working to give fans an album later this year and have been working with a variety of artists and producers on this creative process.

How do you see the current scene of rap and trap music in Brazil? What are the challenges and opportunities for artists in the genre?

We are at our best audience moment. The phase in which more people are trying to hear our genre, but not everything is flowers and it is still a very big struggle for those who come from where we come from.
