How did the idea of releasing the EP “O Amor Não Espera – Acústico” come about and why did you choose this acoustic approach?
After the release of my album “O amor não espera”, I felt the need to give some of those works another arrangement, more intimate and valuing the voice and guitar, which would also be closer to what my audience hears in music. my lives. In addition, today there is a public demand for acoustic versions, which can be seen with the creation of many specific editorial playlists in this footprint on streaming platforms.
What inspired the composition of the song “30 Dias – Acústico” and what was it like working with Jonatas Pingo to create the lyrics?
“30 dias” was born practically ready-made, inspired by situations in our daily lives. How many times do we see ourselves wasting time and not declaring ourselves to the person we love? I wanted to convey the message that I believe so much about the importance of expressing feelings to the person next to you.
On the musical side, my partner and producer, Jonatas Pingo, had the perfect sensitivity and insisted on emphasizing the rising melody with the guitar, as he knew that was a strong characteristic of my work. In the end, the result is that lyrics and music are deeply connected.
How did the partnership with the singer Bell Lins for this track come about? What do you think she added to the song?
“30 dias” is the song that made me reach over 4.5 million people on social media and if I re-released it it would have to be in a very special way. It was not for nothing that I called the last finalist of The Voice Brasil and partner of the music scene here in Brasilia, Bell Lins, to participate in this version. She brought a unique vocal texture to the music. At the same time smooth and powerful working melismas. I loved the result of the fit of our voices, from high to low.
The music video for “30 Dias – Acústico” has a black and white aesthetic and a minimalist setting. How were these elements chosen to complement the message of the song?
When I showed the song to my friend and visual director, João Renato, and said that I wanted a black and white aesthetic for this clip, he immediately agreed, mainly because it imprinted a temporal and intimate character that dialogued directly with the history of the song. A minimalist and cozy setting was also very important to create the perfect atmosphere for music, even more so in its acoustic version. The lyrics have a lot to do with what comes from inside, that goes on deep inside, that’s why this aesthetic was so important.
Besides “30 Dias – Acústico”, what other songs can we expect on the next EP? What can fans expect in terms of sound and themes covered?
In addition to the previously released singles (“30 days – Acoustic”, “You didn’t see – Acoustic” and “Tabuleiro – Acoustic”), the EP will bring 2 more very special reinterpretations of “Uma e 10” and “Inocente”. I already anticipate that fans will be surprised because each new version brings a pinch of other musical styles to my work, without making clear the acoustic footprint of this work.
How would you describe your musical style, which you call “pop-soul-rock”? Who are your biggest musical influences?
In a world of so much abundance and access to different styles, I understand that an artist can have his own concept, his identity, without being associated with a specific musical genre. I am passionate about my eclectic nature, although I have had, in my history, a great influence from Beatles Rock to Stevie Wonder’s Soul/Funk/Disco and Earth Wind & Fire. From Tom Jobim’s Bossa Nova to Djavan’s MPB. Recently I can say that pop artists like John Mayer, Bruno Mars, Tiago Iorc, Vitor Kley, Melim, among others, are also great references.
You mentioned that your biggest concern is making songs that touch people. How do you hope your songs will impact the public and what message would you like to convey through them?
I make songs with the aim of touching people in some way. Sometimes I tell stories, sometimes I reflect, sometimes I describe feelings. I see music as an instrument to access sensations.
Each song passes its message and has some representation. Today I write lyrics more and more trying to put myself in situations and experiences that other people may be living. What I’m always looking for is connection with whoever is listening.
How has the public been receptive to your work, both on social media and on streaming platforms?
People are giving me incredible feedback on social media, sending me messages telling me how my music has been part of their love stories. One even told me that 30 days is going to be her wedding song. I am extremely fulfilled with this connection, after all, this is my main objective. On streaming platforms, you can also see the growing metrics, with music reaching new listeners and being added to new playlists daily.
In addition to being a singer and songwriter, you are also a producer. How is the process of producing your songs and how do you reconcile these different skills?
My day-to-day life as an independent artist has been extremely hectic, and that is why, despite being passionate about the experience of music production, I have lately delegated this role to partners I trust. But of course I participate intensely in the production process of each phonogram that I am releasing.
What are your plans and expectations for the future of your music career? Are there any special projects or collaborations you would like to undertake?
There are several plans and goals that are in mind. The first is to connect with more people through digital media, expanding my audience on social networks. As a consequence, I am organizing myself to carry out my first tour around the country. And I recently started to idealize my own music festival here in Brasilia to strengthen the authorial scene. All this while maintaining a schedule of recurring releases and increasing my catalog.
