This Monday (1st) is celebrated World Breastfeeding Day, which aims to encourage breastfeeding and the creation of milk banks, thus ensuring a better quality of life for children around the world. Nutritionist Dani Borges spoke about the importance of a specific diet for lactating women.

“During this period of breastfeeding, it is extremely important for the mother to be more careful with her diet, as she will not only be nourishing her body, but will also be nourishing the baby and preparing his entire immune system during this period. she explained.

According to the health professional, breast milk improves the baby’s immune system. “In the face of this, we need to be more careful. What I recommend before talking about food is mainly the use of probiotics. The probiotic will improve the functioning of the mother’s intestinal microbiota and with that she will better absorb nutrients, vitamins, minerals and pass this on to the baby better. The child will also be able to be more nourished because of this too,” she said.

According to Dani, breastfeeding is the best way to feed and nourish the baby.

“It is important to always opt for real food. A plate of beans and rice with the lean protein, for example. Also, avoid processed foods, foods with a lot of sugar, foods with a lot of fat,” she said.

Finally, the health professional pointed out that it is extremely important to consume foods rich in vitamins and minerals that we find more in in natura foods. “A great example is eating fruit. Interesting, including eating the fruits that have a lot of antioxidants”, she concluded.
