JAMES CAMERON, THE DIRECTOR

James Francis Cameron was born on August 16, 1954 in Canada and moved to the United States in 1971. He landed his first professional film job as an art director, miniature editor, and process projection supervisor on “Expendables of the Galaxy”. ” (1980), by Roger Corman. His first experience directing a film was in “Piranhas 2: Assassinas Voadoras” (1981), which lasted only two weeks because the film’s budget was low and his meticulous style made him spend too much time directing.

He next wrote and directed “The Terminator” (1984), a futuristic action thriller starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton. The film broke all records, winning eleven Academy Awards® and becoming the highest-grossing film of all time. Until 12 years later, Cameron released the feature that would surpass “Titanic”: “Avatar” (2009), a pioneering production in 3D film technology.

JON LANDAU, THE PRODUCER

Jon Landau is considered James Cameron’s right-hand man. Born on July 23, 1960, he began acting in production in 1987 with the film “Uma Vida de Louco”. He also produced the classic “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” (1989) and co-produced the action film “Dick Tracy” (1990). Landau began working with Cameron on “Titanic” (1997), a film that won him several awards for his work as a product. In 2002 he produced “Solaris”, a science fiction film directed by Steven Soderbergh. Already in 2009 he returned to work with Cameron in “Avatar” and will also produce “Avatar: The Path of Water”. The star came to CCXP 2022 to promote the new film in an exclusive panel that took place on December 1st.
