Sérgio Cruz, plastic surgeon, is a reference in the procedure and reveals new techniques and trends in breast surgery
Breast plastic surgery is one of the most sought after plastic surgery clinics across the country. Both to increase and to decrease the size. In recent years, new techniques have been improved to further improve the final result and in a way that brings more safety to patients.
Plastic surgeon Sérgio Cruz is a reference in the procedure and told our newsroom about the main techniques he uses when surgery involves silicone implants.
There are different ways to perform an implant surgery, it all depends on the result that the patient wants. And each of the techniques has its particularities in relation to the postoperative period.
Subfascial surgery consists of detaching a membrane that surrounds the muscle and is positioned behind the glands to place the prosthesis in front of the muscle. It is a very popular technique and widely used among doctors across the country.
Submuscular surgery is when the prosthesis is located below the muscle. The recovery is similar to the subfascial one, in which the patient can lift the arm the day after the surgery using the modern tactics adopted.
The dual plane technique consists of applying the prosthesis in two planes, with the upper part below the muscle and the lower part below the gland associated with a muscular handle for support. This ensures more firmness and maintenance of the implants in the ideal position, making the end result a more pronounced neck, with the base having a natural appearance. In addition, recovery is much faster, and the patient can resume her light routine in a few days after surgery.
The total submuscular technique is another technique used and consists of placing the prosthesis completely behind the muscle, ensuring greater stability for the implants and greater predictability of the result.
“Breast prosthesis surgery is an excellent option for women who want to increase the size and/or improve the shape of their breasts. The decision to have breast implants is a personal one and varies according to individual preferences and needs. However, many women opt for this intervention to improve self-esteem and self-confidence,” says Sérgio Cruz.
