There’s no denying that we all love a good deal, but when something seems too good to be true, it’s important to investigate before opening your wallet.
The company 123 Milhas, which sells packages and airline tickets at promotional prices, has already been the target of several questions for offering tickets at surprisingly low prices, and many people have ended up encountering problems when trying to use these purchased tickets or packages.
Now, they are targeted by Procon, after announcing that they will suspend all purchases from their customers until December.
This announcement is harming the lives of many people who have already planned to travel, bought foreign currency, closed tours and even courses abroad.
To avoid falling for this type of scam, Babi Trombetta, an expert in purchasing airline tickets, lists some essential tips:
Research Before Buying: Before closing any deal, thoroughly research the company and its reviews. Reliable websites like Reclame Aqui can provide valuable information about the company’s reputation and the experience of other customers.
Check Authenticity: Always check whether the company’s website has security and encryption certificates. Also, be wary of websites that don’t have clear contact information and a physical address.
Attention to Details: Read the fine print carefully. Oftentimes, deals seem amazing, but the terms and conditions may contain clauses that limit usage or impose additional fees.
Compare with other sources: Compare ticket and package prices with other reliable travel agencies. If the offer is very discrepant, be suspicious.
Use Secure Payment Methods: Choose to pay by credit card, which offers more protection against fraud. Avoid paying by bank slip or direct transfers. When payment is made by credit card and the company does not deliver your product, you have the option of canceling the purchase and requesting a refund on your card.
Be Wary of Pressure: If you feel like you are being pressured to buy quickly, be wary. Scammers often use pressure tactics to prevent you from having time to think clearly.
Check Social Media: Look for reports from other consumers on social media and travel forums. This can give you a realistic insight into other travelers’ experiences. If you see that the company has disabled comments on your Instagram profile, be suspicious, they probably did this to hide comments from people who didn’t like the service they provided.
The world of travel is incredible and full of wonderful opportunities. However, safety and peace of mind must always come first. Don’t let tempting offers lead you to hasty decisions, sometimes it’s better to save money for longer and buy your entire trip on safe websites, even if it’s more expensive, as this way you’ll be sure that you’ll travel.
