Fighter Rebeca Cavalcante , from Presidente Figueiredo, Amazonas, recently achieved a historic ranking at the European Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held in Paris. This was the first time that Rebeca competed in Paris and faced the cold climate of the European winter, a radical change for someone used to the warm and sunny climate of her hometown.
Despite the weather challenges and the flu that affected her shortly after her arrival in Paris, Rebeca showed her determination and talent, winning second place in the competition. In a total of four fights, Rebeca won three of them, reaching the final and securing the silver medal.
In addition to her success at the European Championship, Rebeca also became champion in Croatia, reaching the top of the world rankings. Its brilliant performance in international competitions has been boosted by the support of its sponsors, such as businessman Ivair Ferreira, and by the athlete scholarship provided by the Presidente Figueiredo Sports Secretariat.
Rebeca is a true reference in her municipality, being the first athlete to win a black belt in sports wrestling, both among men and women. Its success has contributed to the development of sport in Presidente Figueiredo, especially under the new municipal management.
Now, Rebeca is preparing for new challenges in her career. In May, she will compete at the World Championships in Los Angeles, California. And, in June, he will have the honor of representing his city at the Asian Games, in the city of Chiba, Japan, marking his debut in this important competition and taking the name of Presidente Figueiredo to new heights on the international sporting scene.
