Singer-songwriter Taylor Felt is celebrating the success of her debut EP, “Dead Flowers,” which has accumulated over a quarter of a million streams on Spotify in just one month. The EP, featuring a collection of intimate and emotional songs, was released over the past year with three singles: “Days Like This,” “Mirror Mirror,” and “i wish u would cheat.”

Taylor spent two years in the studio crafting songs that reflect her personal and emotional journey, like pages from her private diary. The tracks on the EP explore themes of liberation, loneliness, and self-love, offering an authentic soundtrack for anyone going through a breakup.

The debut single from the EP, “Days Like This,” is a vibrant pop anthem about independence, which was highlighted in Apple Music’s “Best New Songs” section. The latest single, “i wish u would cheat,” was featured in Wonderland Magazine. Taylor has also gained recognition as a featured artist on KIIS-FM and was a guest on the PortalOne Game Show.

Starting her career in childhood, Taylor Felt has embraced digital platforms to share her art. She became one of the first music ambassadors on TikTok, organically growing her audience to over 3.2 million global followers and more than 42.4 million likes. Her TikTok challenges, such as the Beat Challenge (33.7 million views), Open Verse Challenge (11 million views), and Christina Aguilera Riff Challenge (3.8 million views), have been hugely popular. Recently, JVKE collaborated with Taylor to record themselves singing her verse in “Golden Hour” together. Taylor Felt continues to inspire and connect with her audience through her honest and emotional music, making “Dead Flowers” a significant milestone in her rising career.

Your debut EP, “Dead Flowers,” has garnered over a quarter of a million streams on Spotify in just one month. How do you feel about seeing such a positive response from the audience?

This EP came from such an honest place. To see people resonate with it means the absolute world to me!

You dedicated two years in the studio to create the songs for the EP. What was the creation process like, and what inspired you during that period?

Creating this music was so therapeutic during this period of growing pains and self-discovery during my breakup. The creation process usually began in the shower, where I came up with most of the song ideas and hook melodies! Then I would create chords on the piano around my shower acapella and bring it to the studio!

“Days Like This” was highlighted in Apple Music’s “Best New Songs” section. How do you see the importance of this recognition for your career?

So incredibly honored. It means so much to me to be recognized alongside other insanely talented artists!

The single “i wish u would cheat” was featured in Wonderland Magazine. Can you tell us more about what this song means to you?

“i wish u would cheat” is definitely the most honest song I’ve ever made. This song opened the doors for me to be fearlessly authentic in the creation process and speak directly from my heart without sugarcoating. I made this song because I wish I had a song with this message to listen to while I was feeling stuck in my past relationship.

You started your career in childhood and became one of the first music ambassadors on TikTok. How was this transition, and how do you leverage digital platforms to share your art?

It was so much fun to be a TikTok Ambassador in 2020! I started posting covers and videos showcasing my voice on YouTube at 9 years old and then began sharing on all platforms. A platform I’m loving right now is Twitch. I go live on Twitch every Tuesday and play video games with my brothers or chat with everyone on stream! I am so grateful for this community of beautiful people and I’m so excited to continue to grow this family.

Your TikTok challenges, like the Beat Challenge and the Open Verse Challenge, have been hugely popular. What is your strategy for creating content that resonates so well with the audience?

Authenticity always!! My favorite advice is to create content that you would want to watch.

You recently collaborated with JVKE to record yourselves singing your verse in “Golden Hour” together. How was this experience, and what did this collaboration mean to you?

Golden Hour is such a beautiful song and I knew I had to write my own verse. The feedback was overwhelmingly filled with love so JVKE thought it would be dope to shoot a video of my verse in person. Fingers crossed for a possible collaboration in the future!
