Joacles Costa: a voice of inspiration for young minds
Today, literature took center stage at UMEF Professor Darcy Ribeiro School in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, during a special event.
Called the Literary Blitz, organized by teacher Cristina Azevedo to mark National Children’s Book Day, celebrated across Brazil on April 18th. The event’s special guest was a famous writer, journalist, and teacher Joacles Costa, who moved and inspired the fifth grade´s pupils by sharing his story and passion for books.
During an engaging talk, Joacles shared his experiences as the author of many works.
Including children’s books, chronicles, self-help titles, and plays. He revealed that he began his writing career at the age of 13, emphasizing that writing has always been a powerful way to express his thoughts and emotions. The pupils listened attentively and participated actively, asking numerous questions about his life and work.
“It was an unforgettable morning. The interaction with the students was wonderful. They were bright, inquisitive, and genuinely engaged. I felt truly welcomed,” said Joacles Costa, who also left the pupils with an important message:
“Never give up on your dreams, and let reading be your lifelong ally.”
Cristina Azevedo, the teacher behind the event, expressed her gratitude for Joacles’ presence:
“It was an honor to welcome Professor, writer, and journalist Joacles Costa. Our school is committed to promoting reading and valuing local authors. Events like this leave a lasting, positive impact on our pupils,” she said.
The school’s headteacher, Maria de Lourdes, officially opened the Literary Blitz and praised the guest’s work:
“Joacles is a true talent from our state. Supporting and recognizing writers like him is also a way of encouraging our children to believe in the transformative power of reading,” she stated.
The event brought together several members of the school’s team.
From the librarian to the educational assistant, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in promoting education and culture.
By the end of the activity, the pupils left inspired.
Many dreaming of becoming writers themselves one day. Joacles Costa’s example proved that with dedication, reading, and perseverance, any dream can become true.
