Between dreams, uncertainties, and new beginnings, singer THIH finds in music a space to transform personal experiences into narrative and connection. In the single “Que Bom Seria” (How Good It Would Be), the artist revisits moments of doubt, loss, and reconnection with his own purpose, reflecting on persistence, creative freedom, and the courage to believe even without guarantees. In the interview, he recalls his beginnings in adolescence, talks about the impact of pauses and restarts on his journey, and reveals how solo work became a way to tell his own story with authenticity and hope.

“Que Bom Seria” (How Good It Would Be) was born from a place between dream and uncertainty. At what point in your life did you realize you needed to transform those feelings into music?

It was something very natural. I’ve always had the habit of singing, and at 14, my first composition emerged. From a hum in the shower, practically an entire chorus was born in my head. At the time I didn’t have a cell phone, so I remember running out, all wet, grabbing a notebook and writing down that idea.

This song, “Mudei de Ideia” (I Changed My Mind), even opens my first EP, Outros Tempos (Other Times). From then on, songwriting became routine for me. Whenever I had the opportunity, I would grab my notebook and try to write something. Transforming my feelings into music is extremely pleasurable.

The song is very much about believing even without guarantees. Do you remember a time when you doubted the path, but decided to continue anyway?

At various times I thought about giving up. Many things happened along the way, such as the partial loss of my voice, the end of a long relationship, a change of state, among other situations. All of this greatly impacted my plans and ideas, and during this phase I completely distanced myself from music.

But when I reconnected with myself, that dream returned stronger than ever. That’s when I threw myself 100% into the original project and started going to the studio weekly to produce songs I already had. From this process, the EP Outros Tempos was born.

In the press release you mention this space between fear and hope as the place where the music happens. What is it like for you to create precisely from such a delicate feeling?

This song is pure emotion. The songwriting process was completely an exchange between my current self and my future self. The chorus is everything I imagine experiencing one day.

The chorus evokes the image of voices singing together and dreams taking shape. When you imagine yourself in that scenario, what moves you the most: the stage, the audience, or the feeling of having persevered?

In this case, I can’t choose just one thing. All three move me deeply. Furthermore, without persistence, there wouldn’t be a stage or an audience for us to experience these beautiful moments together.

You grew up in an environment deeply connected to music and were inspired by your father’s singing. At what point did you realize that singing could also be a way to tell your own story?

Music has always been a hobby in my home, but the desire to tell my own story definitely arose after I composed my first song.

After experiences in bands and collaborative projects, solo work emerged as a space for autonomy. What did you discover about yourself when you started composing alone?

I discovered the freedom to create lyrics and melodies based on the references I like, without worrying about depending on the approval or acceptance of a band.

“How Good It Would Be” is about living in the present without ceasing to dream about the future. Today, what dream still motivates you every day?

Absolutely, my dream is to perform at major alternative events and festivals across the country and have my music reach more and more people.

If someone were to listen to this song during a moment of doubt or insecurity, what would you want them to feel at the end of the song?

I want you to feel hopeful, to understand that anything is possible, and to never give up on your dream, no matter how big it is.
