Linda Summer Talks Authenticity, Strength, and Freedom Beyond the Runway

Linda Summer

With an international career built since her teenage years, Linda Summer has established herself in fashion while also cultivating an image defined by authenticity, discipline, and strength. In this interview, the German model reflects on her early experiences at Berlin Fashion Week, the importance of seeing fitness as a path to growth and balance, and her belief in a freer, more inclusive idea of beauty rooted in individuality.

Your journey began very early, at 16, at Berlin Fashion Week. What do you remember about that beginning, and how did that experience shape the professional you became?

Starting at 16 during Berlin Fashion Week felt like stepping into a completely new universe. Especially when you come from a small village like me . I remember the energy backstage — the rush, the creativity, the sense that anything was possible. At that age, everything feels intense. But in a good way . I’m so grateful for this experience. I learned a lot at an early age.

Looking back I also realise I took a lot of things way too personal but over the years I really learned not to. I learned how to stay focused and be more confidence in order to survive in this industry which helps also in my personal life as well.

You built an international career and appeared on major covers such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. What do those milestones represent to you today?

Being featured on covers like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar is an honor.  Today I see those moments as symbols of trust and collaboration. Every cover represents a team of creatives who believed in a shared vision. For me, those milestones are reminders that consistency, professionalism, and authenticity create long-term opportunities. They also represent growth — each experience helped me evolve, not only as a model but as a woman who understands her value beyond any single image.

Your life off the runway includes motorcycles, boxing, martial arts, and rappelling. How do those experiences influence your mindset and also your presence as a model?

Those activities are a big part of who I am. They teach focus, courage, and control. Boxing and martial arts, for example, require mental discipline and respect for your body’s capabilities. For example rappelling pushes you outside of comfort zones and reminds you that fear can be transformed into strength. All of these experiences influence the way I move, the way I hold posture, and the way I approach challenges in my career. They allow me to bring a sense of confidence and authenticity to my work that goes beyond posing — it becomes a form of expression.

You challenge the more traditional image associated with the fashion world. In your view, how has the concept of beauty changed in recent years?

Beauty today is much more inclusive and multidimensional. It is no longer defined by one single look, but by personality, energy, and individuality. The industry is increasingly recognizing that strength, intelligence, and character are part of beauty. I believe people are drawn to authenticity now more than ever. The most inspiring thing is seeing women embrace qualities that once felt unconventional and realizing that uniqueness is actually their greatest advantage.

For you, physical fitness seems much more connected to strength and self-improvement than just aesthetics. When did that perspective become part of your life?

My perspective on fitness evolved when I began training for performance rather than appearance. Strength training, boxing, and martial arts helped me understand what my body is capable of, and that realization changes everything. Fitness became a way to build discipline, mental clarity, and resilience. It is empowering to feel strong and capable, and that confidence naturally translates into every aspect of life. For me, the goal is always progress — becoming stronger, more focused, and more balanced over time. Which is still challenging.

Beyond your career, you also support important causes such as the National Park Rescue Organization and Keen Los Angeles. What motivates your involvement in social causes?

Giving back is so important  because success becomes more meaningful when it creates a positive impact beyond yourself. I feel grateful for the opportunities I’ve had, and I believe it is important to use visibility to support causes that make a difference. Even small contributions can inspire awareness and encourage others to participate. For example when I volunteer for Kids with disabilities  it gives me back sooo much. Their joy becomes mine and the feeling you get when you see them smile is incredible! No money in the world can give you that feeling.

Looking at your journey so far, what message would you most like to share with young women who want to follow their dreams without being limited by imposed standards?

Always stay true to yourself and never lose sight of where you come from. Everything you experience — the challenges, the sacrifices, the small wins — shapes your strength and your character. It’s important to stay grounded, to appreciate every opportunity, and to never take anything for granted. Success is not only about reaching a goal, it’s about who you become along the way.

There will always be expectations and opinions, but your individuality is your greatest power. When you remain authentic, work hard, and continue to grow, you create your own path instead of following someone else’s definition of success. Stay humble, stay focused, and remember that elegance is not only about appearance — it is about confidence, resilience, and the ability to stay kind and grateful no matter how far you go.
