Mandy, you found inspiration for dance from your sister Valentina, and your brother Daniel is a significant source of inspiration for music. How does your family influence your passion for entertainment?
Since I was really little, my family has been super important in helping me follow my dreams in dancing and music. My big sister Valentina has been like my superhero in dance. She taught me my first steps when I was just 3 years old! She’s always been there, showing me new moves and cheering me on at every performance.
Then there’s my brother Daniel. He’s amazing at playing the drums and guitar. Just watching him play makes me want to get better and better at what I do. He’s like my own personal rock star, and I want to be just like him when I grow up!
Mom and Dad have been the best too. They always make sure I have the best teachers to learn from. They come to all my shows and practices, cheering the loudest from the crowd. I’m really lucky to have such a supportive family who believes in me and helps me chase my dreams!
Your newest single “Do the Hit,” is going viral. What is the process like for you, at such a young age, to record and release a song?
Recording and releasing “Do the Hit” has been an incredible journey, especially at my age. The whole process is just so much fun! We head into the studio with Poobear, who’s not just an amazing producer but also a really cool person. Recording the song is like stepping into a whole new world of creativity. Sometimes it’s quick, like 45 minutes, and other times it takes longer, like 5 hours. It all depends on what we’re working on and how it’s coming together.
But what makes it truly special for me is the opportunity to learn from the best. Working with professionals like Poobear isn’t just about recording a song; it’s about soaking up knowledge and inspiration. They make the whole process so much easier, not just by teaching me new things but also by making me even more passionate about what I love to do. It’s an honor to be part of something so exciting and to have such amazing people guiding me along the way.
You’ve had the opportunity to perform live in places like the Wish House in Los Angeles. How does it feel to perform in front of a large audience? Do you get nervous, or does the excitement take over?
Performing live, especially at places like the Wish House in Los Angeles, is like a dream come true! It’s so much fun being surrounded by all those people. I’m a chatterbox, so I love talking to people, and getting to sing for them makes it even more exciting!
Sure, I feel some nerves, but it’s more like excitement than anything else. When I step out onto that stage and see all those faces looking back at me, it’s like a rush of adrenaline. Every performance teaches me something new, and that’s what it’s all about—learning and getting better each time. So yeah, maybe there are some butterflies, but they just make the whole experience even more thrilling!
You’ve released 19 singles and are constantly working on new music. What inspires you when writing your songs? Is there a message you always try to convey?
Oh, I just love making music! It’s like my favorite thing to do ever! Every year, I feel like I’m getting even more into it. I’m always trying out new ideas and sharing them with my mom because she’s the one who writes my songs. And when we hit the studio, Poobear makes them sound even more amazing!
You know what inspires me when I’m writing songs? It’s just everyday stuff, you know? Like things that happen to me or things I see around me. But now that I’m getting a bit older, I also think about what I’d love to sing that would make people really happy and inspired.
My songs are all about spreading love, happiness, encouragement, and joy. And of course, they’ve got to have a good beat so everyone can dance along! There’s nothing better than seeing people smile and dance when they hear my music. That’s what it’s all about!
Your goal is to act in a TV series in the future. What other goals do you have for your career, and how are you preparing to achieve them?
Oh, I’ve got so many big dreams for my future! One of my goals is to help other kids. I really want to start a foundation one day to make sure kids have everything they need to be happy and healthy. Whenever I get the chance, I try to give back because it feels really good to help others.
Another goal of mine is to graduate from school. I go to regular school and work super hard to keep up with my studies while also chasing my dreams in entertainment.
And you know what else I really want to do? I want to be on TV in a series! So, I go to acting classes to learn all I can, and whenever there’s an audition, you bet I’m there! I’m determined to make my dreams come true, one step at a time.
To refine your musical talents, you began taking singing lessons at Jan Smith Studios. How has this experience helped shape your talent and your music career?
Taking singing lessons at Jan Smith Studios has been so cool! Mama Jan and Ms. Ebony are like the best teachers ever. Every time I go to class, they help me get better and better. They teach me all these awesome techniques and tricks that make my voice sound even more amazing.
And guess what? I started taking vocal lessons with Anita Wilson too! She’s this incredible vocal coach who’s worked with super famous artists like Gloria Estefan and John Secada. I feel like I’m learning from the best of the best, and it’s making me even more excited about my music career.
Besides being a singer, you also dance and act. How do you manage to balance all these activities with your studies and other responsibilities as a child?
Managing all my activities can be a bit tricky sometimes, but I’ve got a super organized mom who helps me out a lot. She makes sure my schedule is balanced so I still have plenty of time to just be a regular kid.
So, here’s how my week usually goes: I go to school in the morning, and after that, I head off to my classes. I’ve got dance once a week, cheer practice twice a week, and music lessons twice a week too. I always try to squeeze in auditions after school too!
But hey, I’m not all work and no play! Most weekends, you can find me at the beach or making fun videos for YouTube. And when I’m feeling tired, I make sure to take a break and rest up. It’s all about finding that balance.
How do you feel about being a positive role model for other kids? What do you hope they learn from your journey and example?
It feels really awesome knowing that I can be a good example for other kids. Making people happy and spreading love is what my family and God have always taught me, so I’m just doing my best to keep that going. I hope other kids can look at what I’m doing and feel inspired to follow their own dreams too. It’s all about sharing positivity and encouraging each other to be the best we can be!
What is the importance of education to you, considering your busy career? How do you manage to balance your studies with your entertainment career?
Education is super important to me, even with my busy career in entertainment. I go to regular school just like other kids, and yeah, sometimes I struggle with certain subjects. My sister Valentina is always there to help me out with my homework when I get home. She’s like my own personal tutor, and I’m really thankful for her!
When it comes to balancing school and my career, I try to plan everything out carefully. If I have a performance or something, I make sure to schedule it so I don’t miss too much school. And whenever I have auditions or recording sessions, I try to go right after school ends. Sometimes, I have to skip school for important stuff, but I only do that when there’s no other choice.
You’ve had the chance to perform on TV shows and special events. What has been the most memorable experience so far in your career? What did you enjoy?
If I had to pick the most memorable ones, I’d say performing on The Ellen Show was definitely a highlight. I got to meet Mario Lopez and show off my dance moves to the whole world! I was only 7 years old, but it was such a big moment for me, and it really made my career feel extra special.
Performing at Madison Square Garden was like a dream come true! There were 20,000 people there, and I got to dance and perform at El Alfa’s concert with his sons. It was absolutely incredible, and I’ll never forget how amazing it felt to be up on that stage.
Another super cool experience was singing at the Sketcher Pier to Pier Foundation event. There were so many people there, and it felt really awesome to sing for such a great cause. It made my heart so full knowing I could use my talent to help others. Ahh, I’m just so grateful for all these unforgettable moments in my career!
