The Brazilian band Fosco celebrates the end of a cycle with the release of the music video for “Prepotência”, the title track of their EP Microverso. The video adopts a simple approach to emphasise the song’s complex layers of sound. The rock trio from Brasilia, made up of Matheus Carpes (vocals and guitar), Armando Vitor (drums) and Daniel Prazeres (bass), came to prominence with the release of Microverso.

The six-track EP establishes the band’s presence on the DF scene with songs that reflect on finding their place in the world, resilience and maturing, accompanied by melodies that mix heaviness and intensity with moments of calm and melancholy. The album was produced by Rodrigo da Cruz, mixed and mastered by Marco de Rezende, and recorded at the FM2 Áudio studio in Brasília.

The sound of the band Fosco draws on various sources and references, with influences from artists such as Menores Atos, Alexisonfire, Queens of the Stone Age, The Offspring and A Perfect Circle, resulting in a sound that takes in different strands of alternative rock.

This release not only demonstrates the band’s musical background, but also their continued dedication to exploring good sonic and lyrical territory. Both the EP and the single are available on the main music platforms, inviting listeners to venture into a world of profound sounds and messages. With the release of the music video “Prepotência”, Fosco closes an important chapter in their career and prepares for an exciting year of new projects and realisations in 2024.

Congratulations on the first anniversary of the “Microverso” EP and the release of the music video for “Prepotência”. How does the band feel about this important milestone in their career?

We’re very happy to be closing this cycle with a video clip that we’ve thought about with so much care and so much effort. We know how much thought went into it, and how much we wanted it to come out as good as possible to show the full power of our songs.

The “Microverse” EP reflects themes such as finding your place in the world, resilience and coming of age. Can you share how these themes influenced the composition of the songs on this EP?

We produced this EP with a common thread of themes that run through the feelings that have become so present in people’s lives in recent years. And as they were the band’s first songs, they have very special elements of real connection between the 3 of us.

What was the production process for the music video for “Prepotência”? What aspects and concepts of the song did you try to capture visually in the clip?

We mainly tried to represent the duality of moments in the music, which is so intense, with both expansive and reflective feelings. And we wanted to appear playing because it’s precisely the moments that we can express these feelings.

Fosco’s sound seems to be a mixture of various alternative rock influences. What are some of the main influences that shape the band’s sound?

We have very varied influences from the most diverse styles. One thing we strive for is the concept of “messy rock”, which is the desire for people to feel good and have fun listening to our sound.

How would you describe the music scene in Brasilia and how does the band Fosco fit in and stand out in this scene?

The Brasilia scene is undoubtedly one of the most vibrant in the country. After a very difficult period, we’re happy to see that bands, many of them our friends, are getting back into production, touring and playing festivals, from the most independent to the biggest in the country. We feel part of this, and this has always been our goal.

The music video for “Prepotência” was shot with the team from the production company Nove Zero Um. What was this experience like and how did the team contribute to bringing the band’s vision to life?

Nove Zero Um was a super team for us. From conception to execution, they listened to us and their experience was fundamental for the clip to have flowed so naturally and to have exceeded our expectations

2024 looks to be an exciting year for Fosco with plans for new projects. Can you give us a sneak preview of what fans can expect in the future?

We’re starting production on our new songs and thinking about various plans for concerts, events, meetings and other artistic manifestations that have always been part of us.

Apart from music, how does the band engage with fans and the community? Are there any other projects or collaborations in the pipeline?

“We always try to keep in touch with our fans, and we also have a series of initiatives such as comics, our merchandise, where people can see and be part of our microverse (pardon the pun).

As this cycle draws to a close with the release of “Prepotência”, what message would Fosco like to share with its listeners and supporters?

Fosco only exists because we have dreams and our dreams only exist because we know there are more people on our side. Thank you for your support and we’ll do our best to keep sharing this for as long as possible.

Where can listeners find and listen to the “Microverso” EP and keep up with the latest news and projects from the band?

We’re on social media, like @foscobanda , and our ep and singles are available on streaming platforms.
