With an artistic identity shaped by poetry, emotion, and authenticity, Sophia Lima is building a musical path where intimate experience becomes a space for connection with listeners. In the interview, the singer-songwriter reflects on the meaning of “i’m still here,” the power of turning feeling into song, and her desire to create work that makes audiences feel seen, understood, and deeply moved.
You have been building an artistic identity deeply connected to emotion, poetry, and authenticity. How would you describe the heart of your music at this point in your career?
The heart of my music is exactly that. All matters related to the heart; heartbreak, loss, fear, love and coming of age self discovery.
Your single “i’m still here” has already been gaining attention on social media. What does that song represent for you personally and artistically?
“I’m still here,” represents a personal experience with loving someone so much and feeling despair with the possibility of losing that connection. Artistically it gave me the freedom to poetically share my deep emotions through music.
Your music seems to come from very intimate and emotional experiences. What is your process like when turning personal experiences into such poetic and introspective lyrics?
Song writing is the way I process my emotions that stem from positive and negative experiences in my life. The introspective lyrics are actually a reflection of my personality.
Your debut project is described as a concept album blending poetry and music. What excites you most about creating such an immersive experience for listeners?
What excites me is the hope that my listeners will have a direct and deeper connection with my music. In a sense that they would feel seen and evoke positive emotions.
You are carving out a space in music that goes beyond genre and connects deeply with people. What do you feel audiences are finding in your songs?
I’m so humbled and grateful for anyone who listens to my song and can find themselves no longer alone in their heart breaks, or tough coming of age experiences. I have had people tell me that they are actually finding themselves in my music which is so incredibly surreal to me.
Beyond the music itself, you also share your creative process and behind-the-scenes moments online. How do you see the relationship between artistic vulnerability and connection with your audience?
The way I see it, vulnerability is the bridge between me and my audience. Having your audience basically stare through your soul through your songwriting, can be a scary thing, but necessary to create a meaningful experience for listeners.
Your journey is also marked by a strong commitment to social causes and positive change. How does that more human and philanthropic side of you connect with the artist you want to be?
In the end it’s all connected. Philanthropy brings positive changes and I see art as a means to make that happen from so many different standpoints. I not only volunteer my time with different organizations to create a better world, but as an artist I am always sharing my voice as a singer, my emotions as a songwriter, and as an actor to my characters as well.
