Lucasfilm stands out beyond the “Star Wars” franchises

The fourth episode of Willow is now available! The new Disney+ Original Series from Lucasfilm and Imagine Entertainment is based on the 1988 feature film, an epic fantasy adventure production with a modern sensibility set in an enchanted land of breathtaking beauty. In this continuation, in a world where elves, wizards, trolls and other mystical creatures live, the story continues as an unlikely group of heroes sets out on a perilous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and unite to save your world.

Despite being a Lucasfilm production, Willow is not part of the STAR WARS universe. The new series is one of the studio’s most varied stories. Understand below:

Founded by visionary filmmaker George Lucas more than 50 years ago, in 1971, Lucasfilm has established itself as a highly successful studio in the industry. Acquired by Disney in 2012, it has since had frequent releases in theaters and streaming. Among its main productions, the STAR WAR franchise stands out with several films and series, becoming a landmark for world pop culture and bringing a legion of fans over decades.

However, it’s not just STAR WARS that Lucasfilm is made of. Since its inception, other successful productions have been developed by the studio. In addition to WILLOW – NA TERRA DA MAGIA (1988) and the new Disney+ series, Willow, the Indiana Jones franchise is another one that stands out. With the fifth film scheduled for release in 2023, the sequel starring Harrison Ford was born in 1981 and had its last release in 2008.

As well as productions starring Willow and the STAR WARS universe, George Lucas’ production company has other fantasy and science fiction films and series, with emphasis on Labyrinth – The Magic of Time (1986), Howard, the Super-Hero (1986 ), STRANGE MAGIC (2015).

Also part of Lucasfilm’s portfolio are comedy productions, such as Summer Madness (1973), American Grafitti: And the Party’s Over (1979) and Tucker: A Man and His Dream (1988), and drama, such as Mishima: A Life in Quatro Tempos (1985), Murders on WBN Radio (1994) and RED TAILS SQUAD (2012).
